hi everyone! this is slightly off-topic, as it is not about my health. however, it's about my lady parts!

i have a large bust for my frame. i'm a 34DD, 5'3", and weigh 138 lbs. i absolutely love to wear western-style button-down shirts, but cannot ever find any that fit me right! a women's medium is too small in the bust, and a large is too big everywhere else! i was wondering if any of you know of a place that sells clothes such as this that may fit my frame. i've tried some google searches, but haven't really found anything. this is of course excluding any plus-size stores, unless i am wrong in thinking their sizing would be totally wrong for me?  i've posed this question to a few of my friends, but none of them had any suggestions.

please let me know if you have any ideas, other than buying larges and getting them tailored.
thanks in advance!

This is probably a better question for a place like [livejournal.com profile] newestwrinkle or [livejournal.com profile] blackcigarette .
But I have the same problems. I'm a 34d with a 26' waist and thin arms and button-up shirts are the biggest problem. If you want that "tailored" look, you're going to have to get it tailored. It's really not that expensive or a hassle.

im a 34D with tiny shoulders(bra straps at their tightest still slip down), thin arms, and around a 28" waist.

my favorite pearlsnap shirt is a boys large(i am still confused as to how it stays closed without pulling. but i mainly only keep the lower snaps fastened)

i have such a problem finding shirts to fit, too.

i agree with the above commenter. tailoring is your best bet, since your proportions are somewhat non-standard.

even within the plus-sized world, such problems exist (even with a minimizing bra, i'm a 20 in the best and a 14 everywhere else).

I have the same problem....I'm a 34DD, 5"1' and around 140 pounds, and it is a huge pain to find shirts!

I know people say that it's not a hassle to have shirts tailored, but you end up having to pay extra to have them done and take even more time getting them fitted...I'm interested to see if anyone knows of places that sell shirts that fit better for people like us...

I, too, have the same problem. This is probably NOT the best solution but I whenever I want to wear a button down shirt I usually wear a sports bra that kinda.. squishes me down? >.<;

With "the girls" being that large, and the rest of you that small, you're probably out of the realm of the majority of ready to wear clothing. Now throw in the fact that you like a specific style (being all of 5'2" myself, I relate to the frustration of trying to find a specific style in a size other than "standard"!), and things are really going to get difficult.
It's probably going to be easiest for you to (and I quote Stacy and Clinton from What Not To Wear, lol) buy shirts that fit you in the biggest area, and have the rest tailored. It's a pain, but it's worth it for clothes that fit, make you feel good, and that you'll enjoy wearing! Shop around for tailors in your area. I always thought that tailors were just SOO expensive, until I went looking for one. Not nearly as bad as I had expected, and my clothes fit so much better now. It really opens up what you're willing and able to buy when spending $7 here or $10 there can make it FIT.

You could learn to alter them yourself! I learned and it makes getting clothes that fit so much easier; plus, it's cheaper than going to the tailor :)

X_X I have the opposite problem, tiny bust, lanky arms, wider shoulders, and a pretty normal waist. I've mostly stuck to the few girls shirts that are only a LITTLE big or boys shirts with the sleeves rolled up...

Alas, the clothing industry cares not for the people who are not cookie cutter made.

This site is custom-made jeans, but also shirts, suits, other pants and all sorts of cool things. Have ordered some jeans - because I have ludicrously long legs and a prominent ass - which are still in production. You just bang in your measurements and you're set... hoping the result will be awesome, but for me, having my ankles covered counts as awesome so can't really go wrong..

Ask in [livejournal.com profile] prodigiousbosom. There's Bravissimo in the UK which makes tailored clothing for larger-busted ladies, but I'm guessing from the way you list your weight that you're in the US.
