So, I've had this yeast infection I couldn't kick for a while and decided to try gentian violet. Went to the drug store bought some, did the whole soaking it in tampon thing and stuck it in. It was nice, warm fuzzy feeling (haha), but now I feel like I'm dying. Literally. I'm nauseous and I just don't feel good, or right for that matter. So, my question is this, has anyone ever felt this way after using it? Or am I just going insane? And also, if you have a yeast infection while you're pregnant is it okay to use gentian violet?

At my house we use gentian violet on severe scrapes and cuts that need a crust around them to heal, because according to my mother, it kills everything it touches. Personally I wouldn't try soaking a tampon in it and sticking it in anytime soon in the future; it sounds like a massacre to your delicate bits.

I don't know about using it while being pregnant, but I advise seeing a doctor. The nausea could be from a multitude of things and may not even be related to the gentian violet.

Personally I've never heard of anyone having a reaction like that to gentian violet, but everyone can react differently. Like the above commenter said the nausea could be from a multitude of things, if it doesn't clear up though i'd definitely suggest seeing your doctor about it. Since you are asking about pregnancy, are you pregnant? could the nausea be pregnancy related?

GV should be fine to use during pregnancy, nursing mothers use it on their nipples and babies mouthes for yeast overgrowth. (thrush)
