soreness

Hello all! I have an unusual affliction today...

Last night i took a shower and spread shaving gel around the tops of the insides of my thighs, just to get rid of any hair that would be seen around a bathing suit. I KNOW i didn't cut myself shaving or even come close to my vulva area, but I suppose there is a chance that shaving cream could have gotten there. But then again, there was no stinging and I rinsed thoroughly with soap. After the shower I began to have this soreness on the left side of my vaginal opening, like right around the edge. It wasn't itching so I simply put some zinc oxide on it (which has never before bothered me, so i know it didn't cause further irritation). This morning the soreness has not gotten better, and looking in the mirror the opening on the left side of my vagina is all inflamed. I've had yeast infections and other problems before, but this isn't anything like itching. It's just a soreness that I constantly feel and is making it hard for me to work (i walk around and clean houses). Any suggestions as to what this might be, or any remedies to make it better? Sounds like razor burn. Apply some hypoallergenic lotion to the area, and put ice on it to ease any discomfort you have.

I didn't shave there though. I just mentioned shaving because i could have gotten shaving cream there and i've never done that before, in case it was the gel that irritated me

Could still be a yeast infection. I've had some without itching, especially not right at first. It usually starts with soreness. It could have been caused by using soap on your vag. In the future, I'd recommend using vaginal wash by Summer's Eve, because it is soap free, and make sure to keep it only on the outside of the vagina. You could try some natural treatments for a YI like the ones in the FAQ on the main page of vaginapagina, or get it checked out by a doc to make sure.

Could you maybe be raw from the heat and it just happened to be at the same time as you using shaving cream and so on?
