i wonder what term the newspaper would have found acceptable - cooter? private parts? unmentionables? or maybe just a hushed whisper you know, down there. i'm upset.
We are living in a country full-up with the prudish influences of the christian community.
Your body is nasty, nakedness is sinful, and any discussion of your genitalia is a one-way ticket to the firey pits of hell. And sex? Why, sex is: A) For purposes of procreation or B) A married woman's *duty*... something that is nasty and disgusting and not to be enjoyed.
personally i think there's sort of a language issue ( i know there are other things like religion and social issues to avoid the use of the word vagina.)
i'm a native spanish speaker, i live in Mexico, we mexicans are very traditional and oldfashioned, and very very not open to any public sexual content..... but the word vagina ( in spanish we use the same word, although the pronunciation changes ) is perfectly accepted here..... there isn't another word for that part of our bodies, it's a vagina and that's it....
