just stop taking the pill?

i know everyone's body reacts differently when trying to skip their period but i need some feedback on what happened to them. i regret trying to skip it because i thought it was working at first but i basically got my period anyway, even though it's mostly brownish breakthrough discharge. to get this to stop, do i just let my body have a period by not taking the rest of my pack? i have no idea what to do. i'm so upset i did this because i'm going to the bahamas august 5th and i don't know how long this is going to last and it's upsetting because now all i did was make it so that by the time my pack ends and i'm supposed to get my period, i get it EXACTLY when i go on vacation. i'm such an idiottt. :o(

when i skipped mine i had a some breakthrough for a couple days, 3 or 4? i think. it was really light and then it stopped.

i'm going through the EXACT same thing. i thought it was working at first and then i got the brown discharge..(while i was having sex too! talk about embarassing..) unfortuantley mine lasted until my next scheduled period..which i got today actually..3 days late.

I tried skipping my period this past month, and it's working great for me. I had a few cramps and period-like symptoms during what *should* have been my placebo week, but I haven't experienced spotting. I'm really dreading what this next period will be like, though. I'm starting to think I shouldn't have skipped after hearing all the horror stories about how it's two times worse after you skip! :(

I'd wait it out if I were you. The spotting will hopefully stop.

I did the same thing--I think it depends on what type of pill you take. What kind do you take? Mine is a triphasic pill, and apparently trying to skip a period isn't easy on this kind of pill. But I had calculated out, and the time I was scheduled to get my period is when I'm going to go visit my fiance. I was still a pack away from that, so I just decided to start my next pack immediately and deal with whatever happened.

Well, I had a brown discharge (just like you) the entire pack, and then during my placebo week, I had a period. I'm now in my first week of my new pack, and the discharge has stopped. I personally kept taking the pills because I wanted to make sure I was NOT on my period when I went to visit him... If you just stop taking your pills, you may or may not have a period... I'm sorry :(

I'll add--this period I just had was NOT bad, as I had anticipated. It was a couple days shorter and not as heavy as I was expecting... I thought that since I hadn't had my last period, my uterus would be BACK WITH A VENGEANCE, but it was much lighter and less crampy than it normally is. My only guess is that with all the discharge throughout the month, my body rid itself of most of the period stuff that should have come ;)

Hmm. I would advise to continue on with the pack (just not to mess things up more) and hope it figures itself out by vacation time. If you have a triphasic pill it's possible you didn't skip it correctly. I skipped a period once (thankfully I'm on a monophasic - I didn't realize there was a difference in how you did it, I just thought you started the next pack) and it was fine since with monophasics you DO just start the next pack, but with triphasics you sort of have to go backwards. There's a link in the Vulvapedia somewhere that explains it, I believe, but I'm not very handy with links like some people here are.
