Skin flap?

This is something I have never talked about with anybody before. I got the guts to mention it to my girlfriend last night and she said she'd noticed slightly but didn't think it was a problem.

I've been worrying about it since I discovered it at the age of about 12.

The opening of my vagina is strange. While it should be just a hole I have two holes, or rather I have a piece of skin over the entrance that makes it seem like there are two holes. Maybe I should draw a diagram.

Is this something you've come across before?
I get really worried when I think about it, because I have trouble with my tampons sometimes, if I don't put them in right they get tangled on the skin and it's very painful. What about if I ever give birth? Surely that skin will rip, ow.

Going to a doctor and asking isn't really an option, I'm way too nervous about things like this.

It sounds like an unusual hymen, and while I can see it being annoying, it doesn't sound like anything to worry about. A doctor should be able to cut it for you with just a little bit of local anesthetic in an out-patient procedure if you'd want that.

Yep, just an unusual hymen. Talk to your doctor if it really concerns you.

What about if I ever give birth? Surely that skin will rip, ow.

I'm afraid that'll be the least of your owie worries when giving birth, lol.

Sounds like your hymen to me as well, check out Hymen Gallery (http://www.healthystrokes.com/hymengallery.html), I believe there is a drawing in there of a hymen that sounds alot like what you are describing. Second to last i believe.

Your hymen would probably break prior to giving birth, mainly with any penetration larger then a tampon or a few fingers. Like [livejournal.com profile] tyrsalvia you should be able to go to a doctor and have them cut it for you, if you really find it to be painful or a problem.

There are many varieties of hymens, some people aren't even born with them, this is nothing to be embarrassed about. Everyone is different, vagainas and hymens are all different. I assure you this is really nothing to be nervous about, there is nothing wrong with you and honestly, it'd be really hard to shock a gyno or doctor, even if your situation was purely unique. If it really bothers you, you could try and break it yourself (which would probably be mildly painful i'd imagine, especially if tampons can hurt sometimes), but it's probably a quick procedure and much less painful if a professional did the breaking.

I have/had a hymen like that! Its fine, mine broke with inserting things larger than tampons, if it really bothers you your doctor can snip it for you :)

I think gyno's have seen everything. If you're nervous about it, look for a woman gyno. We're all built differently, and the same, but little variations are ABSOLUTELY NOT abnormal. I can pretty much promise you that your gyno has seen it before. If it's easy to fix, then GREAT. If not, then that's just the way you're built, and probably nothing to wowrry about.
Your gyno will know.

It looks like a sepate hymen.

You could have it surgically removed if it bothers you; but I don't think there is a medical necessity to remove it as long as your menstral flow is not blocked by it.

I had the exact same thing (lost it through lots and lots of masturbation), so you shouldn't worry too much about it. :)

Yup, septate hymen, textbook case (At least by your diagram!)

You can get it snipped at the gyno, I believe!
