Blood Clot Symptoms

I have been on the Nuvaring for several months now and last week I developed a throbbing dull pain in my left thigh. I've been told that birth control puts you at risk for blood clots and DVT in the legs. Does anyone know if this sound like I'm having a blood clot, of if I just pulled a muscle or something. There's no swelling or discoloration, just some dull pain that goes away and sometimes comes back. Any suggestions, or should I be rushing in to the doctor?

it's very important to check this out promptly-----birth control pills do put you at special risk for blood clots in the legs------with luck this will turn out to be something much more simple, but you definitely should not take a chance----an ultrasound should let you know if there is a clot.

If it were me, I wouldn't take the chance. It's worth calling your doctor about in the morning.

I've been on BC for a very short period of time twice. During that time (a week), I'd feel dull pain in my calves. When I had to stop the BC, the dull pain went away a few days later. @.o

It does sound suspicious, it's a good sign that there is no heat, discoloration, or swelling. I recommend calling your provider's office (answering service) and getting a professional recommendation.

eating lots of hot, spicy foods will help to break it down , if there was a clot there. Expecially cayenne. But certain medications do cause pain in myriad places on the body. Maybe talk to your doc about decreasing the dosage, or switching to another brand.
