hi!
I'm asking this on behalf of my friend, who is getting married on saturday.
she has been on seasonale for...oh, two months? maybe less. not sure.
anyway, she said she has had a month-long period. and it's still coming, with no signs of stopping.
she called her gyno, who said to take two pills a day for the next five days. she did, the bleeding hasn't stopped.
now she wants to switch to another kind of birth control, like otc-lo, before the wedding.
like, she wants to start it today. and she wants it to stop the bleeding between now and saturday (for the honeymoon and all).
I personally don't think that will be good for her. to go from the doses of seasonale (especially since she's been doubling her pills for almost a week) to switch to a competely different brand which will probably ALSO have different dosages. it just seems like that wouldn't work. maybe I'm wrong.
anyway, she called the gyno back and they told her she might just have to use backup on saturday, which she violently DOESN'T want to do, so she said her other option is to just go off of birth control altogether and "risk" it (aka: no backup and no birth control) over the honeymoon (which I STRONGLY advised her not to do!)
do you guys have any other suggestions? I didn't really know what to tell her and she's freaking out and it doesn't seem like the gyno is being much help. I'm not sure there's much she can do at this point. but I'm no doctor, either.
