Hello all, I always get my periods every 31 days. Last cycle my period was five days late and my period is two days late now. I have lost twenty pounds since Feb and was already small, do you think this is causing my irregularity?

I also had unprotected sex with no ejaculation and I am pretty sure I wasn't ovulating, what are the chances that my period is late because of pregnancy rather than my weight loss theory?

Mmm, unprotected sex with no ejactulation raises the risk of pregnancy because of pre-cum. Also, how sure are you that you didn't ovulate at that time? Weight loss can affect your cycles, but anytime you have unprotected sex, you risk the chance of pregnancy.

I also read that pre-cum couldn't contain sperm unless ejaulation occured beforhand or that day, which I know didn't.

You're correct. :) Take a look here (http://www.goaskalice.columbia.edu/0922.html) if you're curious to know a bit more about why, but you've got the gist of it exactly right.

It doesn't sound to me as though you're at a high risk for pregnancy, but it is a possibility. Have you thought about taking an at-home pregnancy test? That might be a good way to find out for sure. PeeOnAStick.com (http://peeonastick.com/) has some great information and advice about at-home pregnancy tests that I've found really helpful myself.

I hope everything turns out okay for you. :)

Losing weight down below the minimum threshold (or around it) could certainly make your cycle irregular. Stress can also contribute.

My irregular cycles were traced to hypothyroidism, but I never had regular cycles before, so that's unlikely to matter in your case.

Decidual bleeding can look very much like a light period, but it happens while one is pregnant. If it is Utterly Crucial that you find out about any pregnancy quickly, I would suggest taking a pregnancy test Just In Case. If it is less than utterly crucial, you can probably play the odds that minimal amounts of potential sperm (all the way down to possible 0) + probably not ovulating within 5 days = it's just the weight loss.

If you're embarrassed to buy one, you could also get a tests done at Planned Parenthood. My experience there was very positive!

MEH--

Your late period is probably caused by stress & weight loss; that's all. I HIGHLY doubt you're pregnant. I'd wait a full week before I'd waste my time & money (even just a dollar) on a test!

Yeah, when my period's late I give it a week after it's supposed to show up to come. The less I worry about it, it seems, the quicker it decides to show.
