i have written before. i got bacterical vaginosis while i was pregnant and i was finally diagnosed 7 weeks post partum. i was prescribed a generic of metrogel for 5 days. it went away for a few days and suddenly the itchiness and odor was back so my ob/gyn prescribed metrogel for 10 days. it went away for a few days again and then it was back. i have an appt with my dr again this week and i have been reading online there are many women who have this chronically. i have actually never had this before my pregnancy and i'm starting to get really depressed about it. it's affecting my sex life with my husband and i'm starting to worry that if this doesn't go away, i'm going to get PID and become infertile.
has anyone taken medicine that has effectively wiped out BV for good? i'm so completely over this.:(

flagyl was the only thing that cured my chronic, year-long BV.

haha it's cool, i totally feel for you!
i got married with BV!

i think it is the same antibiotic just orally, but i'm no dr.
i took it for 5 days, twice a day; but i was prescribed to take it 7 days, twice a day.
i totally had weird side effects. my mouth tasted like metal all the time, i felt off all day, i was nauseous, and had terrible gas. i ended up stopping early because i was woozy and working, and it's really discouraged to miss work at my job.
it helped to take it with something really rich beforehand (you take it with food) like ihop.
i ended up going to a diff dr afterwards and she told me to eat 2 bacteria-rich yogurts a day (stonyfield farm, brown cow) and the typical things you do to avoid infections: unscented mild detergent for your underwear, no thongs, drink lots of water. it worked.

I think flagyl was what i took too and it worked. It's the pills, right? It's much stronger than the gel, that's why the doctors want us to try out the gel first. I think its much ''safer'' for our system.I had BV and i started out with metrogel, but it didn't work. I haven''t had BV since that time, but then again, im living in a long disstance relationship.

After you've tried the pills you could try out Multi Gyn. Maybe it can help you prevent it later on.

I use it 'cause i have a lot of discharge that bother me:/ And every once in a while i take those ''milk pills'' or whatever theyre called.
