[identity profile] xfoundinabottle.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] vaginapagina
I posted a couple weeks ago about home pregnancy tests, thanks to everyone who provided input...

I finally made it to the doctor's last thursday (my doctor disappeared on a medical leave last minute).. and....

We're having a kidlet! wooohooo!

Does anyone know any good pregnancy communities?

That is a really good community. I am still a member although my child is now 13 months because I like talking about pregnancy. The due dtae communities are usually better at being drama free.

The birth should be in a good hour!

birth_is_normal is an active, interesting community with tons of resources - lots of smart mamas there!

[Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and [livejournal.com profile] _pregnant_ aren't too bad. If you're the crunchy-type (like me) there's [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]. For general parenting things there's [livejournal.com profile] parenting101. I'm a member of all of those communities. They're all fairly active and have a decent cross-section of people as well as some very knowledgable people.

You'll also be able to find a community (or two) specifically for women due the same month as you. That way, you can share gripes and stories with people at the same stage as you. I don't know when you're due but...here:

[Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], [livejournal.com profile] babies_sept2007 and (if you're newly-newly pregnant) [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]

Congratulations and good luck!

I used to read that community but it looks dead now... :(

Oh, too bad. I'm not a member, I figured a lot of posts were just locked and invisible.

I think basically one "generation" of mamas had their kids. We're all around for advice and support, but have no reason to post!

Oh, and a lot of people find [livejournal.com profile] pregnant quite drama-riffic and repetitive, but I met some nice people through there.

That community was awesome. You all need to get pregnant again and revive it.

Talk to my lj friends blognotfound and scenicbeauty - they both have several kids and are both pregnant, and know every pregnancy community, on and off lj - and can point you to the best ones.

Congrats!

Hey congrats, im pregnant too due 18th aug. im only 19 so i did have a bit of a panic at 1st but i registered at ivillage.co.uk theres a lot of lovely people on there that say just the right things to make you feel better :) theres a different board for each month your babies due (for me Aug 07) so you get to know everyone on there. just introduce yourself by posting everyone is really friendly. im not sure if theres an american site if you live there. but its good to find out about lj community's too

heh mine was a big accident. i found out just before xmas too. iv registered on that site. still scares me to thinkits already got arms and legs and a brain :S

i have scan pics ill upload them to my journal but they're fuzzy cos i just took them on my phone from the pic itself.

the ivillage 1 seems to be quite good since u can ask anything. a lot of people were asking about morning sickness and when people were starting to wear maternity clothes etc so u can pretty much ask anything. i asked for a list of what i will actually need and i got a few replies of what people bought for their 1st, what they actually used and what they wish they had which is really useful :)

Congratulations! You've gotten some great suggestions, but I'll add that pregnancy questions that relate to reproductive health and well-being are always welcomed in [livejournal.com profile] vaginapagina, too!
