[identity profile] cspara.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] vaginapagina
I did a search for a community about breast health, but I couldn't find one that was so frequently used and helpful like vaginapagina. So although this is kinda off topic, I hope you can still help me.

A few months ago a friend of mine was over the house and we were swimming in my pool. She was talking about the date she had the night before and said, "M really liked breasts for some reason last night, he couldn't keep his mouth off of them." She then went on to ask me a question and show me something. She took off her top, applied slight pressure to her brest and white fluid came squirting out of the nipple. She had always thought that everyone's breast did this, but learned from M, that she was the first girl he has been with that this happens to. I didn't taste the fluid, but both of them thought it tasted like milk.

Now my friend has never definitely been pregnant, but there have been a few scares. I really don't think though that this fluid production has anything to do with that, since she has said she's been able to do this for years. So I guess what I'm asking, is does anyone know what this is that's happening. I told her to get it checked out at the doctors, but she never did. Maybe I worry too much, but she's a good friend, and I don't want to see her get sick or anything because she never asked what was going on with her body. Any sort of ideas, help, suggestions, or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I wouldn't say 'cancer' right away... and the glands of the breast do secrete fluids (even male breasts) so I wouldn't be too worried. if there is pain, or some sort of growth in one breast that isn't in the other, then I would get checked out ASAP

i wouldn't worry. it would be advisable for your friend to get herself checked out by a doctor just because it's better to be safe than sorry. it could be lymph, or possibly that she has higher than normal levels of prolactin (which causes the production of milk).

and come to [livejournal.com profile] breasthealth - we're small but can't grow without input!

Hi, just wanted to share a brief personal story along these same lines.

After taking the morning after pill, for about a year or more afterwards, I also had slight amounts of discharge from both nipples (but particularly from one of them). It didn't come out on its own; just when I squeezed the nipple. I'm pretty sure that I was lactating. I am not quite sure why, but I think that the morning after pill whacked out my hormones a bit. For the period afterwards while I had the discharge, I was not on any hormonal birth control. When I started taking oral contraceptives again, it stopped completely. I was also concerned at the time, but when I checked in with a gyn, she said there wasn't anything to worry about.

I still think your friend would be wise to have it checked out, but I thought I'd point out that it isn't unheard of for healthy women who are not pregnant to lactate if they've taken hormones at one time or another.

i think M might be the cause of it because if he was sucking on her breasts, the body might have been led to believe that a baby was trying to suckle on them. that's how it is for some "nannies"--or surrogate mothers--who breast-feed the babies they take care of. some women are just sensitive like that.

it could be one possibility...
