So today my boyfriend and I had sex, we used a condom. However, I think there's a chance I may be pregant. I bit of his pre-cum got around my vaginal opening before he put the condom on. I got all of it off, but I'm not entirely sure if maybe a bit of it still got in there.

Today I'm going over my friends house and she's got some weed that we intend to smoke (this isn't a frequent occurance, this is the first time I've smoked in over a year and it probably won't happen again for a very long time after today.) My period is due in about 2 weeks, so if I don't get my period and I take a pregnancy test, will the marijuana interfear with that? Even though it'll be a couple weeks later? I know that pot sticks in your system..so that's why I'm wondering. Any information you guys could give me would be great! Thanks so much!

The only thing pregnancy tests look for is HcG. HcG is only present when a fetus has implanted in a womb.

If I weren't out the door to class I'd post links to all of the sources we have around VP that show that pre-cum very rarely contains viable sperm. I'm sure someone else will post info to those though. You'll also have 120 hours to obtain EC (in the event that you don't want to get pregnant).

Good luck!

oh okay, whew. I was also thinking about getting EC, but I heard you need a perscription for that, and I have absolutely no time to get to a doctor within the next couple days. Thanks for the reassurance!

That depends where you are located. Some pharmacies will already give it to you without a prescription if you are over 18.

You can also go to a Planned Parenthood.

There's a very slim chance that you may have gotten pregnant from pre-ejaculate.

Some girls got their kids that way, yes. But it's still a very slim chance compared to an actual full ejaculation.

Hopefully that will ease your mind.

yeah, I know it's a very small chance. But I can't help but worry, you know?

Thanks for the comment, I really appreciate it =)

Not only is there very little semen, if any, in pre-ejaculate, it was on the outside of your vagina, not inside. Just one of those few would have to crawl up there. It's likely you're near ovulation, given when your period's due, but I don't say that to worry you. Precum outside the vagina has such a miniscule chance of causing pregnancy even then that I wouldn't worry.

Hi there! I saw that someone mentioned emergency contraception, so I wanted to point you to our Vulvapedia article (http://www.vaginapagina.com/index.php?title=Emergency_Contraception_FAQ) on the subject. Specifically, here (http://www.vaginapagina.com/index.php?title=Emergency_Contraception_FAQ#How_do_I_get_EC.3F) is where it talks about how you can get EC and whether or not you need a prescription.

And, last but not least, if you go to this Vulvapedia article (http://www.vaginapagina.com/index.php?title=Non-Hormonal_Birth_Control#The_Withdrawal_.28Pull-Out.29_Method) and scroll down to the section called "The withdrawal method and pre-ejaculate ("pre-cum")," you'll see what research has indicated about whether or not pre-ejaculate contains viable sperm.

Good luck!

Just to echo [livejournal.com profile] lindsay_nichole, marijuana will not affect home pregnancy tests in any way. The awesome HPT resource PeeOnAStick.Com explains whyhere (http://www.peeonastick.com/hptfaq.html#38). :)

i'd say go for the EC if you can and not really to sound preachy, but if you think your pregnant you might wanna skip out on smoking, in the case that you ARE what would it do to the baby? =/
i always assume the worst though, you're probably fine because of the small chance, like everyone else has said.

If the OP smoked marijuana today, was at or near ovulation, and the incident regarding the pre-ejaculate getting near her vaginal opening somehow did cause sperm to enter her body and fertilize the egg (which alone is a fairly minor chance, as you noted) -- then a pregnancy could occur.

However, the good news here (should the above things occur and the OP choose to carry the pregnancy to term) is that the fertilized egg would not implant in the uterus for 6-12 days from now... so if she smoked marijuana today, it would not impact the fertilized egg at all, should one happen to be present.
