I'm not sure if the symptoms I'm experiencing are from an infection or a reaction to birth control since they started a week after I changed methods, so sorry if this should be in another community.

I started on Mircette (taking the generic Kariva) on the 24th after being on Nuvaring for over a year. I had been on Mircette for 3-4 years when I was about 14 for period regulation and never had a problem. About a week after I started, I started getting INCREDIBLY itchy down there and a lot of clear discharge mostly at night, a new strong odor that's really noticable to me, I guess the best I can say is it feels like almost dry skin or I have a cut because sex has been impossible the past few weeks due to complete lack of wetness and being too sore to even enjoy oral. It's been 2 weeks of this and not looking like it's getting any better on its own (plus neither my boyfriend or I enjoy the lack of sex)

I was on antibiotics for the end of the first/beginning of the second week of pills same antibiotics for a sinus infection I've been on in the past but again I never had a problem like this for this long that wasn't clearly due to something else... so I was on them when this started so I don't know if it was from the antibiotics, or me reacting to the birth control pills, or some sort of infection (this will affect what doctor I see, since if it's BC related I guess I have to go back to the gyno which is a much harder appointment to fit in than my GP)

Any help or advice would be great as to where I should go next would be appriciated.

It might be helpful if you described what your symptoms are :D.

The symptoms don't necessarily sound spot on for this, but the itching, discharge, and new odor -- especially depending on what it smells like -- could indicate a yeast infection. (Not all women experience all of the typical YI symptoms.) And both antibiotics and hormonal contraceptives can trigger yeast infections in some women. You can check out VP's Vulvapedia entry on Yeast Infections (http://www.vaginapagina.com/index.php?title=Yeast_Infection) for more info on symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment.

Hope you feel better soon!
