ovulation question

I admittedly do not know much in the way of normalcy as far as ovulation goes. In fact I dont know much on the subject at all hence my reason for asking here :)

I know some people experiance cramping and such during ovulation and I do too but for the last couple cycles I've noticed a trend in the way I cramp...It alternates sides with each cycle. Like two cycles ago I had this annoying little stabbity cramp on the left hand side (where I approximate the ovaries to be) and then this past cycle it was on the right hand side in the exact same area. It's not something that concerned me but made me curious and I just wanted to know if this is fairly common or if I'm some wierd freak of nature or soemthing or if it is indeed something I should have checked ect.
