My period started yesterday afternoon...it is heavier when it starts, but I have never had it this heavy. Overnight I bled through 3 super plus tampons. Plus I NEVER get cramps. And now its pretty damn bad. Should this be cause for concern? My first was at age 17; I'm 25 1/2 now.

Is there any chance that you could have been pregnant? Early term miscarrages are like heavy periods, sometimes with more cramping...

Check out this link on abnormal vaginal bleeding:

http://www.webmd.com/hw/womens_conditions/hw63221.asp

"Severe bleeding: Soaking more than 8 pads or super tampons in 8 hours
Moderate bleeding: Soaking more than 8 pads or super tampons in 24 hours
Mild bleeding: Soaking fewer than 8 pads or super tampons in 24 hours
Minimal bleeding: "Spotting" or just a few drops of blood from the vagina"

Just for some info.
It might not be anything, just an extra heavy period, which could be caused by a variety of things. But if you're really worried, make an appointment with a doctor, if anything just for peace of mind.

I do know that your body chemistry changes as you get older, i'm 29 and had my first child but i have noticed that my periods are shorter that when i had first started getting them at 14, i used to have to stay home from school for the first two days, but I would say that why your are experiencing is somewhat normal unless the heavy bleeding is the result of a miscariage.
