im worried that i might be pregnant. by all means i shouldnt be. im on BC and my boyfriend and i use spermicide. my period should have come yesterday, yet it did not.
my question is, when should i take a pregnancy test, for ex. EPT or some other over the counter test?
i think im just stressing out lke with alot of other things. but i am usually right on schedule.

Date: 2003-01-08 11:33 pm (UTC)but
1. you can take a test the day you are late (actually you can take some as early as 3 days before it's due) but i suggest waiting a couple days (2-3) to see if your period shows up. i also suggest using your first morning urine. it's not 'neccessary' but the presence of the hormone is less the earlier (ie the day after your period is due instead of say 3-4 days after it's due) you take it. it also is weaker if you drink a bunch of water beforehand. it is still pretty acurate; however.
2. stress can cause your period to be wonky. worrying about being pregnant to an excess can also cause it to be delayed. Try to relax. Try not to think about it for a couple days and see what happens. If you still don't have your period take a test.
3. False negatives do happen. They say if you get a negative and you still don't have your period a few days later you should take another test. If it still doesn't come a few days after that you should see a doctor.
Basically that's all i know in the test part of things. Just do try to relax and stay calm. Stressing yourself out about it definitely won't help matters whatever is going to happen will and you'll find out either way soon. Did i say relax yet?
(i really hope this helped)

Date: 2003-01-09 06:33 am (UTC)there are some people who do have a period (or something resembling one) after they become pregnant
in fact, there are some (albeit few) people who have "periods" all through the pregnancy, who only discover they are pregnant when they go into labor
(by "period" i mean that while it technically is not a period, it resembles one in that there is bleeding for whatever reason)
not trying to scare you or anything, but i figured this was something you should know if you *really really* do not want to get pregnant (:
