im worried that i might be pregnant. by all means i shouldnt be. im on BC and my boyfriend and i use spermicide. my period should have come yesterday, yet it did not.

my question is, when should i take a pregnancy test, for ex. EPT or some other over the counter test?

i think im just stressing out lke with alot of other things. but i am usually right on schedule.

best way to be sure is to use both the store bought test and have one done by a doctor, just to be sure. those tests can be faulty.

good luck

if you were to do a search on home pregnancy tests you would find a whole lot more information that i'm able to write in this comment. a lot of the sites even have a faq so you could better understand what to expect and what not...

but

1. you can take a test the day you are late (actually you can take some as early as 3 days before it's due) but i suggest waiting a couple days (2-3) to see if your period shows up. i also suggest using your first morning urine. it's not 'neccessary' but the presence of the hormone is less the earlier (ie the day after your period is due instead of say 3-4 days after it's due) you take it. it also is weaker if you drink a bunch of water beforehand. it is still pretty acurate; however.

2. stress can cause your period to be wonky. worrying about being pregnant to an excess can also cause it to be delayed. Try to relax. Try not to think about it for a couple days and see what happens. If you still don't have your period take a test.

3. False negatives do happen. They say if you get a negative and you still don't have your period a few days later you should take another test. If it still doesn't come a few days after that you should see a doctor.

Basically that's all i know in the test part of things. Just do try to relax and stay calm. Stressing yourself out about it definitely won't help matters whatever is going to happen will and you'll find out either way soon. Did i say relax yet?

(i really hope this helped)

also note that periods are not neccessarily reliable indicators of pregnancy
there are some people who do have a period (or something resembling one) after they become pregnant
in fact, there are some (albeit few) people who have "periods" all through the pregnancy, who only discover they are pregnant when they go into labor
(by "period" i mean that while it technically is not a period, it resembles one in that there is bleeding for whatever reason)

not trying to scare you or anything, but i figured this was something you should know if you *really really* do not want to get pregnant (:

I think those pregnancy tests are a rip-off. They can be up to $20!

Do you have Birth Control or Sexual Health Centres where you are? These places will do it from a urine sample confidentially and for free.

I don't get my period sometimes, but it's just a side effect of my birth control. That might be what happened with you.
