Hi everybody. =) I'm in need of some advice concerning my Divacup.

I've been using it since April or so, and I really like it. =) Problem is, my last few cycles I've had some major leaks. It only happens once a day or so, and it doesn't matter how heavy my flow is, so I think the leaks have something to do with the way I'm inserting the cup.

I fold it into a U shape, and then put it in with the bottom side of the U facing upwards. I push it in as far as I can, and then I'm ready to go. Is there anything I'm doing wrong, or any tips to keep in mind while I'm inserting? Thanks so much.

[EDIT] Problem solved. I stuck my finger in to rotate the cup last time I put it in, and I felt it open up. No leakage! =D Thanks for all the advice.

Ifi you don't rotate it once it's open, you don't have a seal around the cup and you will leak. Hopefully this helps!

Maybe it's not popping open once you've iserted it? Try swiveling your finger around the outside of the cup once it's in to make sure it's open all the way around.

Also, it may be that your cervix isn't above the cup. Mine sits sort of low and to the side, so unless I make sure to get it in the cup, there will be some bleeding around the cup. Something similar may be going on for you.

Good luck!

I thought that the DC was supposed to sit more at the entry to your vagina, not at the base of your cervix?

Well, yes, but for me, it sort of gets 'sucked up' and decides to sit way way up no matter where I first put it. From what I've heard, this is fairly common. Also, the DC is moderately long. For some people, one end will be at the entry to their vagina and the other will be right at the cervix. Long answer short, it varies.

I just got mine this week, so I'm trying to figure the logistics out :) I've already done a 'dry run', but didn't leave it in for very long. I guess I'll just wear pads the first little while until I perfect my method.

Yeah, it definitely took me a few cycles to get used to it and figure out exactly what worked best for me. But now it's amazing, which I'm sure you've heard a million times before. :) Good luck!

Are you rotating it to make it lock in, Morganpooface?

The first time I ever used my Diva, I pushed it in as far as possible and it leaked. Then I read the directions and noticed that it said NOT to push it in all the way. The cup is supposed to sit right at the vaginal opening, though mine always wriggles further in after I've walked around a bit. My advice is to just put it in (don't PUSH it all they way up), then rotate it until it forms a seal. It may feel uncomfortable for a few minutes, but after a bit of walking around, the seal should form properly and the cup should move into a comfortable position on its own.

Good luck!
