Has anyone here ever been prescriped Leviquin and if so, did you have really bad nausea from it? I got prescribed it yesterday for an infection and I feel extremely sick! As well, as being terribly sweaty when I wake up from sleeping through the night or a nap.

Thanks :)

have you tried having a little snack before taking Leviquin? i found that helped loads with the nausea. oh and make sure not to take it with calcium/vitamin c pills too, since that can make you sick too.

hope you feel better! :)

Leviquin or Levaquin?

I just got put on Levaquin because people at work can't seem to go to the doctor when strep is going around.

Nausea, trouble sleeping, stomach upset, loss of appetite are some of the side effects.

Be careful of Levaquin. I took it last November for an ear infection (overkill, according to my regular doctor, who was very surprised to hear that the urgent care doc had given it to me) and I'm still having problems with tendonitis. I developed tendonitis in both elbows, wrists, thumbs, knees, and ankles. The knees and thumbs are still bad. The doc told me that it should fade, and usually only elderly people develop the tendonitis, but OMG, if your joints start to hurt, get something else prescribed. Don't wait.

All fluoroquinolones can increase the risk of a tendon injury (such as Cipro and others as well as Levaquin), but I think it's a fairly rare side effect - sorry to hear you had such a bad time with it! :(

Uh...I have the SAME problem, but so far, it's only affected my right ankle, in the Achilles tendon. It's utterly miserable and yes, because of Levaquin. I hate that shit and wish to god I had never ever taken it. And I have had it for over 2 years now. My ankle is ALWAYS tender, no matter how much I ice it, rest it or keep it wrapped and raised.
It also stays consistantly 3/4 inch thicker in circumference than my other ankle.

Nausea and GI upset are possible side effects of every antibiotic. Try eating small amounts of food frequently so your stomach doesn't stay empty for long, and get some probiotics to help regrow your normal flora.

Yes, and yes.

I try to take it at night, right before I go to bed, in hopes that I sleep through the yuck.
