HELP.

i had an issue with plucking for a year or so, and now half (or most) of my hair down there won't grow back. i know i've damaged the hair follicles, but i don't know what to do. i feel like i'll never look normal again. is all hope lost, or is there ANYTHING i can do to regrow the hair?

Hey, plucking the pubes isn't as bad as you'd think! I got into it on a friend's suggestion a year ago, and I freaking LOVE it. It's less painful than my eyebrows, and it's sort of hypnotic. It relaxes me for hours.

Oh, I can't pluck my actual vulva. That is indeed too sensitive (should have clarified).

As for everything right above it, I find the trick really is just to keep doing it... you know how with plucking, the more you do it the less sensitive it gets? I used to only be able to do the upper half without discomfort, now I can get all the way to the top of my vulva.

Honestly, the only thing about plucking is that it takes a very long time to do it all, so if you're going for smoothness, the problem can be that you have different hairs growing at different times.

However, I just love the process. Relax, pour myself a hot chocolate, lean back and lose myself in plucking... it's heaven.

I got this from Wiki, I'm not sure if it is all that helpful but it does sort of explain the cyclic growth process of hair.

"Individual hairs alternate periods of growth and dormancy. During the growth portion of the cycle, hair follicles are long and bulbous, and the hair advances outward at about a third of a millimeter per day. After three to six months, body hair growth stops (the pubic and armpit areas having the longest growth period). The follicle shrinks and the root of the hair rigidifies. Following a period of dormancy, another growth cycle starts, and eventually a new hair pushes the old one out of the follicle from beneath."

I think what it's saying is that hair goes through phases of growth and non-growth, I think that when you pluck a hair out it could be in either phase, so if you pluck it out during its non-growth phase it will not start growing back until it hits its growth phase.

Sorry if I'm sounding a bit all over the place, I'm trying to piece together bits and pieces of info i've heard all over the place, with that Wiki article.

I don't know of anything that will kick start regrowth sorry.

by plucking you disrupt the hair's natural cycle- where it grows, begins to fall off, and grow again.
Give it time and naturally it will grow back.

I've always been told (by mom and waxing info) that if you wax often enough eventually the focilcles will die and hair won't grow back as much. I assume that the same might apply to plucking though other info already posted seems to dispute this.

I've read that it can, but it takes repeatedly plucking over a period of many years before the hair doesn't regrow. I think the OP probably hasn't been doing it long enough that it won't grow back.

I have Trichotillomania and i've pulled out my eyelashes for years and have finally stopped. I have a spot in the corner of my eye where my hair will not grow back. My doctor says it's because scar tissue has built up there, so I can only assume you might have the same problem. Hopefully not, though. Atleast the vagina is a normal place to rid hair if yours does not grow back...

I don't know why, I guess it became a nervous habbit and then an obsession. I have anxiety disorder and i'm almost positive it was linked with that.
