someone here on vp once posted a tip for getting the cup to pop open easier. if you rinse your cup with cold water as opposed to warm water, it makes the material a little stiffer and more likely to pop when you let go of it. it gets a little softer if you rinse it with warm or hot water, so it's more likely to stay in the folded position. it's worked pretty well for me.
i've never really been able to twist my cup. i don't know if just seals itself or what, but i've had very minimal leaks, so twisting isn't always necessary.
