Hello, VP-ers! Just a few random questions, hopefully someone'll be able to help me!

  1. Problem 1: My vulva [the folds between my vag and my thighs] sweats! Not terribly or constantly, it just gets quite annoying and a bit smelly, at least to me. I shave, so it's not like hair is holding anything in. I don't really work our or exercise, so it's not like sweating when you're doing physical things ... just when I take my underwear off at the end of the day, it's just ... sweaty. Any reasons/causes anyone can think of, and is there any way to prevent this?
  2. Problem 2: I have started getting weird "bumps" in between my breasts and on my upper back. They're not like acne, they're just odd white bumps that don't go away. What is this? How can I prevent it?
  3. Problem 3: My nipples are ... lumpy! Seriously, when I get cold or whatnot, my normally-smooth nipples get all bumpy/lumpy. They don't hurt or anything, it's just embarassing. Anyone else have this problem?
I think that's it. Sorry if I'm too vague, ask if you need anything clarified. Thanks so much for your help!

Is it like chill bumps on your nipples? If so, I get them too. I've kinda always assumed it was normal.

I hope it is...
eep.

1) Some people have over active sweat glands on certain parts of their bodies. I do in my arm pits. That could be what's going on, but more then likely it's just normal sweating. If I'm sitting around at home in pj's I don't get any sweating, but if I'm out for the day, walking around, especially when the warmer weather hits I definatly get sweaty. I think its really just natural.

2) I sometimes get bumps that sound similar right between my shoulder blade and on my chest, just one or two every 5 or 6 months. I was told they are acne. But if yours aren't going away and you're worried you might want to check with your doctor.

3) Your nipples sound exactly like mine and perfectly normal. I don't think it's embarrassing, just normal. If I had my camera I'd post a picture, but I'm pretty sure you just described my nipple. :P They get really bumpy with a lot of lines, and mine go from being perfectly round to very oval. I personally find it kind of funny, and have had no complaints from any of my partners (almost wrote parents, heh.)

1. I get that, too. I usually just dry myself off once or twice a day with some toilet paper, because that can start to smell like regular sweat does, but otherwise it's not a big deal. Have no idea how to prevent it, though (it seems to be a lot better when I don't wear underwear, but I'm not sure how much that helps you).

3. The nipples or the areola? Because I get little bumps all over my areola when I'm cold/aroused and I never thought anything of it - they're just sort of goosebumps.

1. I get sweaty, too! Try wearing not-so-tight cotton underwear. Also, try wearing a pantiliner, as that might keep you dry.

2. Yeah, they're most likely whiteheads, the evil cousin of blackheads. Use a little rubbing alcohol to try to dry them out.

3. Me too!! It sucks, but it's just the natural shape/texture of your nipple. Mine get lumpier when I'm cold.

Just to be precise...

The external parts of your genitalia are actually called the vulva. Your vagina is the inner part that leads to your cervix.

As for the sweating thing...
Do you wear cotton undies or something synthetic? Cotton allows you to air out more and doesn't hold in the moisture like the sily satiny stuff does. You could also try some powder in the areas where your thighs meet your pelvis to see if that helps. Just be sure that the powder you get doesn't have talc or fragrance since those are both bad for the female genital tract.

For the skin on your chest you could try a gentle exfoliator that may help slough off dead skin which can often cause breakouts like that.

And from what I can tell, most of us get bumpy nipples when we get cold or our nipples tighten up for any reason. Don't worry about it too much. I've never received any complaints about it ;)

The bumps on your nipples may be milk ducts?

That's what I always assumed the bumps on mine were. My gynecologist has never said anything about them, so I would assume my boobs/nips are fine.:)

Yes, check out my LJ layout:) and I have a few other icons I made that are DT

I use cornstarch to kind of soak-up the crease sweat. Even though I always wear cotton underwear, I still get sweaty. I attribute it to living in a desert, for me, but there are plenty of other reasons to sweat.

Do they look like these (http://www.kidzworld.com/img/upload/article/a2907i1_boob-185.jpg)? (Warning: Links to NSFW boobie picture!) They're called Montgomery glands (with spelling variations), and they're perfectly normal. According to < href="http://babies.sutterhealth.org/breastfeeding/bf_production.html">this site, they:

"produce a natural oil which cleans, lubricates, and protects the nipple during pregnancy and breastfeeding. This oil contains an enzyme that kills bacteria and makes breast creams unnecessary."

The little 'bumps' on the areola are called Montgomery glands, and they produce oil that lubricates the nipple/areola complex.

1. Shaving often makes sweating worse! sad but true. You can get deoderants for that area but I wouldn't recommend them, always seemed like overkill to me. Does it bother you?

2. Haven't a clue sorry

3. Completely normal :)

i get it too.
i hate cotton underwear so i found a bunch of lacey ones that allow air in.
cottonelle makes these flushable wipes that i'll use every now and then to "freshen up" (did i just say that?). it makes a big difference because it makes me less worried about it.

and i also have the bumps on me nips.

Because when you're shaved you have skin directly on skin - and that sweats more. When you have hair it creates a cushion so air can still circulate between your labia and thigh and the skin doesn't sweat as much.

I'm afraid I'm going entirely on personal experience and anecdotal evidence here. Sorry. My guess would be that I feel sticker and sweatier because skin rubs against skin with no hair in the way. That's how it's always felt, clammy and icky, which is definitely not the case when there's hair. I'd say it's worth a try if this bothers you.

And feel free to insert any 'they just want to make you feel your body is not fine as it is so that you buy stuff' cynicism here. We're always told shaving is clean and hygenic and attractive when in fact this is not necessarily the case.

Ooh! Ooh! I know this one!

If you get little white bumps that sort of resemble tiny pimples, but generally don't swell up or get sore and just stay there forever, then there's a good chance you have pillaris keratosis (ie chicken skin - yes, such an attractive name). I've got them. I inherited them from my dad, all up my upper arms. I believe that it's basically protein build-up beneath the skin...you can decrease them by using a sallycilic scrub on them (not immediately, it takes some time) and there are a couple of creams that have come out recently to treat them.

Stupid computers: miss one letter, and they act like they don't know what you're talking about.

1. I sweat every day, wintertime included. It may just be your body. :)
2. I get those too! I assumed they were pimples until I poked at them, and I realized that, no, it's not! they're strange.
3. I have this too. When I'm super cold it's baaaad. :P

1)dont wear underwear thats too tight, and wear cotton, not just a cotton crotch thingy, the whole thing. i wouldnt wear a pantyliner like someone suggested, that would restrict air flow, and it would be worse.

3)like everyone said bumpy hard nipples are normal, nothing to be embarrased about.

You know, I've always had those things and never knew what they were. I was always just told they were normal and they'd probably go away when I got older. And of course I'm still waiting for them to go away...

Thanks so much for the info!
