Last night I had sex for the first time. I was formerly 100% sure that my hymen was broken from being fingered, horseback riding, life, et cetera, but when he got in there past the head, it was like there was a wall. It hurt extremely when he pushed up against it. We waited a minute or so (at my behest, he was all for trying to ram through and insisted that it was my hymen), and then went on, and everything was fine.

Was this really my hymen, or just tensed muscles from me being kind of nervous? I was under the impression that hymens were closer to the opening.

My hymen was already broken my first time; I felt a wall too. I am certain it was just my being tense or his aiming downward or upward.

My first time I didn't experience anything like that. That was 5 years ago, but only a year ago, I was with the fourth person I have ever slept with and I felt what you just described.

Sometimes it can be that you're just nervous. When you're nervous your muscle tend to tense up and trying to get anything in there is difficult.

But I just wanted to add that I think a guy has no say on how your genitals work. They're your genitals after all, and if you don't know what's going on... he REALLY shouldn't know, so I'm glad you were able to stop his "ramming" technique because hymen or no hymen, experienced at sex or not, he's not the one having to FEEL that.

*sigh* Boys.

It sounds hymen-licious to me.. although mine was long gone by the time I had sex. But congratulations!

Doesn't sound like the hymen to me. For one thing, the hymen is usually more like a "ring" rather than a "wall"...

I wouldn't say that. Although it's different for everyone, people I've talked to say there's felt like a wall. Mine was definatly like a wall...an extremely painful, bloody wall.

ALthough it's hard to say if what the poster is describing was tension or hymen.

You don't think that what you felt as a "wall" might have been tension as well?

Definatly definatly not. There was the 'wall' and nothing was going through, but he persisted and I could feel it break and tear, extremely painful. When I got home that night my underwear was soaked in blood, looked like I was having my period. I had to throw it out.

Ouch! That sounds mighty painful, I'm sorry. You should've just gone to see a gyno, they could've had your hymen perforated in a less painful way. You must've noticed something was wrong, what with never having had a period (unless you hadn't reached puberty when that happened).

Ummm...never said I never had my period. I was 18 at the time. Some people just have thicker hymens. I didnt have a medical problem. I still had room that I could fit in fingers and I've had my period since I was 13. It was just a painful first time, nothing medically wrong. For some girls that's just the way it goes. Just because you bleed and your hymen hasnt been entirely broken down by the time you have sex doesn't mean that your hymen is some sort of super thick skin membrane that encompasses the whole opening of your vagina.

Which is why it shouldn't feel like a wall in there. If it does and you don't actually have a non-perforate hymen, it's probably just tension. Either that or the boy was ramming the vaginal wall.

See my post below. I mean, I'm not really sure how to explain it any clearer and I'm not trying to sound rude, but just because you have some preforations doesn't mean that there's no 'blockage' so to speak. Small holes don't leave enough room for a whole penis to go through. To reiterate: "Even if your hymen is intact, it rarely covers that opening completely, but has little holes and perforations in it. Even after it has been torn or stretched, little folds of tissue remain. During first intercourse, pain or bleeding you experience may be due to stretching your hymen, and is perfectly normal." Judging by the amount of blood, the physical feeling of tearing inside and that I could physically feel him breaking through, and the fact that I was well aroused, and that it happened to me.
And I really resent someone trying to tell me what happened to my body as if I don't know my own body very well.

I was just asking if you considered that possibility, no need to get resentful.

"Your hymen is usually easily stretched or eroded with fairly basic physical activity, tampon use, masturbation, or other things. Even if your hymen is intact, it rarely covers that opening completely, but has little holes and perforations in it. Even after it has been torn or stretched, little folds of tissue remain. During first intercourse, pain or bleeding you experience may be due to stretching your hymen, and is perfectly normal. "

I'm positive my hymen was broken through fingering as well. It could have been the tenseness. There was a bit my first time too but not as much as you've described above. You can always try and try again. Your boy sounds really nice for doing all that for you too.

i'd say if he got any bit of it in, it was past the hymen's domain, and far more likely to be muscular :)
