Dec. 2nd, 2002 11:27 amsooo this morning i scheduled my first gyno appt. i ended up scheduling an appt with an RN NP because she was one of two females who werent booked up into the middle of next year. all the MDs were male and to me going to a male gyno is like asking a cook to teach you to farm. anyway... are RN NPs just as qualified to care for my bits as an MD is?
also... does anyone know if skin so soft is safe for bits? i use it in my bath to shave and just wanted to make sure im not disturbing anything.
thanks in advance!

Date: 2002-12-02 09:26 am (UTC)A nurse practioner is qualified to do most things that a family practice MD is qualified to do, with the exception of perscribing certain kinds of drugs.
In many cases, you're actually in better hands with a nurse practitioner.

Date: 2002-12-02 11:59 am (UTC)(This is OT, but it does relate to how you are treated by doctors... I have allergies and I am congested most of the time. I'm use to not being able to breath through my nose. If it gets too bad I take decongestants which happens once or twice a month. At least twice a year my doctor prescribes a nasal spray for me. I tell her that I am not going to use it. I just really, really hate nasal sprays but she continues to prescribe it for me and I continue to refuse to take it. All it does is reduce a symptom that doesn't bother me. You would think that she would start to notice a pattern...)

Date: 2002-12-02 04:09 pm (UTC)similar story...
i self-diagnosed myself with rheumatoid arthritis when i was 15, and for three years i argued with my MDs, who were convinced it was just growing pains. (but of course they're not going to listen to a kid, right? even though it's my body, i can't possibly know what i'm talking about. :P) and what did it turn out to be? they sent me to a rheumatologist who specializes in juvenile arthritis, and she diagnosed me on my second visit. she's the only doctor that ever made me feel like a person.
grr.

Date: 2002-12-02 01:47 pm (UTC)As for the Skin-So-Soft, if it's not bothering you in any way then you're fine. Some women could be irritated by the fragrance or by the fact that it's oil-based, but if it's not causing you any problems then there's no reason you shouldn't use it (as long as you wash it off afterward).

Date: 2002-12-02 02:59 pm (UTC)my mom is also a NP... by the time those ladies and gentlemen are out of school, they've had enough clinical to know what they're doing... don't worry...
