100 years ago, false periods (somewhat common during pregnancy)) could convince a woman on an isolated farm she wasn't pregnant. And some babies are NOT active. I knew a very handsome guy who had a, well, dented nose. His mom said the doctor told her he had been a lazy baby and had laid so long in one position in the womb that his nose grew wrong.
So... are they telling the truth? Some probably are. And some of the young girls, I am sure, are taking any excuse their body hands them to deny the possibility of pregnancy.
