Lemme know if this isn't appropriate.

What do each of you find to be the best *drugstore* wax kit?

By "drugstore" I just mean something very common/well-known.
Definitely nothing you'd have to buy off the internet.

If you're looking for something easy, I recommend a kit with wax strips. As in, strips with the wax already applied to them. They are more expensive, but they're also less messy. As I only wax my bikini line (about once a month), it takes me a good 3-4 months to go through one $7 kit.

Also, in general, I like Veet products and tend to stay away from the Nair brand.

Ditto about Nair. Ew.

I've used the Sally Hansen Sugar wax since I was 16. It takes a little time to get used to it all and the technique, but it saves a lot of money not getting my brazillians proff. done.

I've never had luck with the sally hansen, but I used to use nads (I know, right?) and found that it worked really well and was the easiest to clean up.

also, I can't remember if they recommended this, but I used to microwave it for like 10 seconds before I put it on.

I use a professional (semi-professional?) waxing pot/wax. Gigi honee. I don't even know if there ARE other brands of that, and I'm pretty sure you have to buy them in beauty supply stores, like Sally's.

bumble-bee wax, i am not sure if it is designed for use on/around your privates but i use it for my eyebrows and it works great. available at sally beauty supply for $7. one jar has lasted well over a year for me.

I'm going to have to disagree with the first poster on the pre-waxed strips. I have never had luck with those things, they don't seem to be worth the problems in my opinion.

I have had great luck with Parissia Hot Wax, in the blue package. It's microwavable and comes with a bunch of muslin (or something. it's kind of thick and papery, i use both them and "Andrea" brand) strips, applicator sticks, and after-wax oil (i don't use it often, but it's not bad). Anyway, I find that it works very well, picks up pretty short hairs. The only downside is that you have to keep it heated and it cools sooo fast, so either constantly microwaving it, or getting one of their hotplates is what you have to do. But yeah. It's worth it, in my opinion. I've been using it to wax everywhere for a good 3 years i think.

Just curious... what problems have you experiences with pre-waxed strips?

Any time I use anything other than those, I pretty much stick to my bathroom walls. And the floor. And the sink. And my dog. It's not pretty. ;)

Oops... experienced.

I've just found that using pre-waxed strips are so messy and they stick to everything and don't grab the hair and they just are painful and not worth the money or effort.

Hmmm... I guess I've just experienced those same problems when waxing without using the strips. ;)
