So, I know that one is not supposed to have sex a certain number of hours before getting a Pap smear.  How many hours is it?  And does it just mean unprotected sex, or like... any sex?  (Boo hoo.)
Thanks :)

72 is what all 3 of my docs have told me and that means any penetration of any kind of any thing.

Some doctors have different rules, my current doctor has 48 hours. And usually it's not just sex, but any type of vaginal penetration.

24-48 hours, nothing in the vagina or poking around the vulva (the thought is that any kind of foreign object could cause abnormal test readings by disturbing the normal natural vaginal flora and discharge and all)

My doc tells me 72 hours...and no penetration whatsoever.
