Ok, for those embarassing (but always eventual) period stains that you get on your panties, what do you girls find works best for getting the bloodstain out? Thanks.

if you catch it after it just happened...cold water and soap works the best. after that, if they're white, i'd try bleach. if they're colored and it's pretty unsightly i'd toss them or designate them as your "period underwear" that you only wear when you're on your period. that's what i do.

Well, initially before you wash them rinse the stains in cold water. To get the rest out use a baking soda paste and let it set for a couple hours. When you wash your clothes use a little white vinegar and/or bleach. :)

hydrogen peroxide works really well if you catch it even if you cant get some for like 10-15 mins it comes out with water and some scrubbing

hydrogen peroxide is definitely the best...there used to be an old wives tale that you put hydrogen peroxide on cuts to cauterize the tiny vessels and stop them bleeding...i don't really care how it works, it just does...it gets hot and foamy, and kills live blood cells and but leaving it in the sink for too long can perpetrate the stain somewhere else. usually put some on and then wait a few minutes and rinse with lukewarm/cold water. i've even done it successfully after 12 hours...i have bad luck with staining on undies, pants, sheets...argh...but hydrogen peroxide is the saviour!

Cold water and soap, especially Ivory, seems to work really well for me as long as the stain hasn't been washed. I just rinse it like crazy and then scrub with a sliver of the soap till it's gone. It works quite well.

Also as strange as it may sound - spit.

Your spit can help reduce your own blood stains.

YES!
Your own saliva will take out blood so easily!
As long as it's not a HUGE area to clean, lol.

I usually just make them my period underwear or throw them out, BUT another thing that works if you catch it right away I've found is shaving cream.

Cold water, and maybe a bit of velvet soap.

Haven't had the bloodstain problem since I got a cup tho.

I use a bit of Gain right on the stain, let it set a few minutes & then wash. I find that Gain gets like every stain possible out.

Ice: put an old towel under the stain and let it melt.

Hydrogen peroxide also works.

Shampoo. That's how I get it out of my sheets, too. Rub shampoo directly onto the stain, let it sit for a half hour or so, then throw it in the wash like normal. It got stains out of my stuff that had been there for weeks.

When I accidently get a stain on anything, as soon as I catch it I get to a sink and wash out it with cold water, then I scrub with some soap (detergent if it's handy, but usually handsoap) and rinse some more with cold water. Then I toss the offending panties or shorts in the laundry, and usally the stain is gone.

i just recently found spray n wash dual power. spray in wash is in the pink and green bottles, and the dual power is a bottle with two separate liquids, and when you pour them together, they foam up. i don't think i've tried it on blood, but it's taken out everything else i've tried it on. my friend said she had a shirt with a coffee stain on it that had been sitting at the bottom of her laundry basket for months, and the spray n wash got the stain right out.

I use cold water if they are fresh. Half the time I don't even need anything else.

Bleach vs Peroxide

If they are white and it doesn't come out in the wash, I dilute bleach half and half with water and spot apply it with a paper towel. This also seems to work ok on light colors if there is a seperate crotch panel that is white (which there often is). Haven't tried peroxide so that might actually be better.

BTW is peroxide OK to use on black? Will it make it discolor?

Peroxide shouldnt discolour.
I think the reason it works is because it kills living cells.
And um, yeah.
If youre worried, test it out on cloth you dont like.

my mum, when I used to miss the pad, I was a lot younger, used to use Salt and water. It did work, though you have to be careful, she also said salt can disitergrate the knickers, how true that is I dunno, but it did work!
