So you know the whole FDA warning and new labelling information and general ruckus that has been going on in the US about Ortho Evra and how it exposes women to more estrogen than previously believed?

Well, if you're a Canadian user of Evra, apparently you don't have to worry about it.

I didn't know this before, but the Canadian (and European too, I think) "Evra" actually has less estrogen per patch than its American counterpart, "Ortho Evra". Don't ask me why this is. According to the SOGC, recent studies show that Canadian Evra actually is comparable pharmacokinetically to regular 35mcg pills like Cyclen. Health Canada has stated that the matter is under review, but since the dosage and manufacturing processes are different, the FDA warning and updated American packaging don't automatically apply to the Canadian product.

Good to know.

*waves a little Canadian flag* Woo, go us. :)
