I never looked at my hymen either.... mine broke the first time i had sex 3 years ago. i imagine mine was normal enough before it broke...

I can't think of a reason why a hymen would be abnormal.... but I'm not as well-educated on female anatomy as some of the ladies here. I know about mine, but not much about what anyone else's should be like. Sorry I can't help you.

Hell, now that I read the rest of the comments, maybe it broke the first time I used a tampon.... all I know is that it hurt like Hell the first time I had sex.... so maybe it tore a little for the tampon and completely ripped for the sex? I dunno.

well then i think you just have a very thick hymen. its very normal, and eventually will be broken with tampons, stretching, exercise or sex.

well... I read your last post about how it's hard for you to put tampons in and so forth...
It sounds like there is a lot of tension and it's quite possible it may need to be removed surgically.

I believe you also said you're almost 18? Or you just turned 18? Even if you are a virgin, this is around the time you should start getting pap tests, so you might as well kill 2 birds with one stone and get it checked :)

As far as I can tell (the picture is a bit blurry), that looks exactly like mine. -shrugs- I assume mine is at least partially broken, as I can have sex with relative success (I almost wrote sexess... oO). If you do kegels, can you see some sort of hole?

I could be weird, but I just kind of did kegels and whatnot until I could see something. oO; You said inserting tampons was uncomfortable, but what about masturbation? Can you insert a finger comfortably? I'm not sure why I'm asking all these questions, they just came to mind.

If you have a normal period (meaning it's passing through this hymen) i dont see any reason why it wouldn't be normal. Could be extra skin i suppose. My cousin has extra that almost grew together as a child.

But i'm pretty sure yours is probably normal.

I think a gynocologist visit would be much better than asking all of us. Are you comfortable with going? It's really not all that bad- I'm sure he/she will examine you and tell you what's really going on, and you'll feel a lot better.
