Hi fellow vag pagers:
I have a question about periods and natural remedies.

I have assumed for a while now I have PCOS. I have all the symptoms.. My periods are nonexistent... When I was on birth control, I had them like clock work, but when I got off of them my periods stopped. I also have almost every other symptom of PCOS. Every time I go to the doctor though, the only thing they want to do is put me on birth control pills or other hormones and I'm not comfortable with synthetic hormones. Is there any natural remedy, such as a tea or herb that will induce my period with out taking a synthetic hormone? Thanks all. Any resources you can reccommend would be great.

Parsley tea is good for inducing a period. Try checking out www.sisterzeus.com

I have PCOS also and tried the parsley tea and it did nothing for me. And I drank a LOT of that stuff. So I think that it could induce your period a little early if you were going to have one anyway but if you are not ovulating I don't think parsley is goign to make that happen. I'd ask your doctor to do some lab work.

Basically the whole point of the birth control business is to make money, so drug companies make synthetic hormones (they can't very well patent something that exists naturally.) Bioidentical hormones ARE out there, though. Try asking your doctor and, if you get hassled, find a holistic/homeopathic women's health clinic, as they are much more akin to prescribing bioidentical hormones. Appointments may not be covered by insurance. I don't know about prescriptions. Good luck!

Parsley tea, but it only works to shorten your luteal phase (the part of your cycle between ovulation and menstruation) - meaning if you didn't ovulate (which i believe most PCOS women don't), it won't do anything for you.

From my experience with parsley tea and Vitamin C to induce periods, I'd say that neither one of them are strong enough to drastically alter your cycle. Yes, they can "speed up" a period that is a couple of days away (though I've never been able to use parsley tea even for that), but they're not going to totally regulate your cycle.
