It's not about vaginas, but it is about the female body.

Okay, I sweat. A lot. No, really, like a LOT. It seems that no matter what kind of antiperspirant and/or deodorant I use, my underarms sweat enough to leave visible marks on my clothing. As I don't want to live the rest of my life with my arms plastered to my sides for fear of being, to quote the now trite commercial, "unsure", I was hoping some of you might help me find an antiperspirant (or similar product) that actually keeps my underarms free of perspiration.

Standard brand names I have tried: Adidas, Arid, Arm and Hammer, Dove, Herbal Clear, Lady Mitchum, Right Guard, Secret (solid, platinum, etc.), Soft and Dri, Suave, Sure, Teen Spirit... and maybe some others I've forgotten.

Men's brand names I have tried (in case they're stronger): Arid, Mitchum, Right Guard. I refuse to wear Old Spice deodorant.

"Alternative" products I have tried: a mineral crystal (I forget the exact name), and Adidas Absorbing Deodorant.

I have also tried going without a deodorant or an antiperspirant. Unlike some members here, I did not sweat less.

Oh, and just to clarify: I don't have a problem with the smell of my underarm moisture, as it smells like whatever the deodorant smells like and not "body odor." As for the moisture itself, I just want there to be less of it.

Any suggestions you have would be appreciated.

There were recently a bunch of suggestions sent to The Vine (http://www.tomatonation.com/vi062305.shtml) at Tomato Nation.

(And I totally sympathize with you.)

I usually use Soft and Dri even though I don't really like it. It's about the best thing I've found but there is one problem...I can't wear green & some blues. Why? It bleaches them. I remember at first I thought, "My god, my sweat did this?!" then one day I happened to get some on the front of a green shirt & an hour later it was bleached out to that fabulous white/yellow shade you get when you bleach your colors.

That cannot be healthy.

ARGH.. that happened to me with a blue shirt that I bought THAT SAME DAY - I was so angry. I was using Secret Platinum Clear Gel (one from the Sparkle collection).

One of my friends said she had the same thing happen (bleach spots) with a green shirt but when she washed it later, it looked fine. No bleach spots left. Doesn't seem to make sense to me, but who knows! I haven't washed mine yet though.

There's a product called Certain-Dri that works for me. You put it on before bed at night, and use a normal deodorant/antiperspirant during the day, and it works wonders! I noticed a difference within two days. I bought it at CVS for under $7.00. It does sting a little if you use it after shaving, but it works very well for me...

YES, I bow down to Cerain-Dry!

Yeah sometimes it stings, but it is worth it!

What about combining one of the deoderants/antiperspriants that worked better with baby powder or something else like that and reapplying halfway through the day?

Two words...CERTAIN DRI. I used to sweat a lot too (even if I wasn't doing anything physical), but once I discovered this stuff, problem solved!!! Try it! =) I got it at Walgreens...it's probably available at most drugstores.

My bestfriend uses prescribed deorderant and she sweats wayy less then what she use to. It works and is cheap (like 10 dollars).

Someone in one of the natural health communities I'm in posted about Lush underarm creme deoderant. Apparently, it's fantastic. As a stinky girl, I'm going to try it.

I use Drysol on my underarms once every two weeks - kills the sweat! I'm serious, and I'm in the same boat you are - everything killed smell but not the sweat.

This is exactly what I was going to say. I suffer from hyperhydrosis, mostly just in my palms, though. If you go to a dermatologist, they will be able to prescribe you Dysol, which works perfectly. I sweat very little to none when I use it.

I have the same problem as you! It sucks. I had a black hoodie permanently attached to my back all through high school. And my sister was always the type that would point it out (if I didn't have the sweatshirt on). "Laura, is that sweat? Are you sweating? Why are you so sweaty? It isn't hot in here or anything." I was trying to deny it since both our boyfriends were right there. Thankfully hers spoke up and said "If she said she's not sweating, she's not. I think she would know." We all knew I was, but he was just protecting me from my sister. Now why didn't MY boyfriend do that? :P

I use this stuff , it's incredible , you use it every other night for the first two weeks then whenever you feel like you're overly sweaty after that. It does itch so you should do it right before bed so you aren't scratching in public the next day. My mother ordered it somewhere online , I'll find out the name of it tomorrow and post a new comment. Just to inform you of how bad my sweating was so you can compare , by first period (In school around 7:45 am) the underarms of my shirts were soaked , no matter hot hot or cold it was , so I did usually wear a hoodie , no matter how hot so as not to show... my hands would leave wet marks on the desktops and such and gym was just ... horrible , now everything is fine , I have not soaked through a shirt yet. =D

I also sweat quite a bit and foudn that degree works well, the white kind that you click up, not a roll on -- roll ons have never worked for me. I don't use it anymore because one time I put my arm around my then boyfriend and got deodorant on his shirt, which made for a not so attractive mark on his shirt.... :-\ I now use Secret Platinum clear gel, which doesn't work as well, but is sufficient.

But if you can live with that....

I've only been using this for the past couple days but I've been really pleased with the results so far. And it's been really frickin' hot in Minnesota lately. If you have sensitive skin, get the sensitive skin kind.

i really like avon's roll on anti-persperant. it feels gross when you first put it on, but it stops me from sweating period. and it comes in a variety of smells, and unscented.
and i sweat. to the point where i can feel it rolling down the sides of my chest. even in tank tops i get sweat marks that go down to well below where my bra sits.
it goes on sale quite often for $1 a roll too. i buy 10-12 rolls when its on sale, and it keeps me well stocked up for a few months.

i too had tried everything that the drug-store carries. my grandmother gives my brother (who's a sweaty smelly rugby player) a couple of rolls of the men's every year for christmas and he loves it, so my mom tried it. my mom sweats worse than i do, and she loved it, and gave me some to try. and now it's all i use.

although for the past few weeks while i've been waiting for my avon order, i've been using my boyfriend's old spice deodrant. and although i smell like an old man, it works pretty damned good. i know you said you refuse to use it, but it works.

Hey! I would suggest using a product called "Drysol" You can get it at Shoppers Drug Mart and probably any other drugstore. You would want to get the Dab-on one and it costs around twenty dollars. You wash your under arms before you go to bed. Dab it on, when you get up in the morning have your shower then apply regular deoterant or anti and away you go!

Cheers

I looooove Tom's of Maine's natural unscented deoderant. I originally picked it up because I think normal deoderant smells like B.O. (which kind of defeats the purpose, eh ;P), but now I would NEVER go back! It isn't touted as an antiperspirant, but it definately keeps me dry as well as smelling fresh.

I feel your pain. I sweat like crazy. I can't wear button down shirts as they exaggerate the sweat stains evern more. I tend to sweat more when it's cold (in the office) and when I'm anxious (in the office). This means I sweat a lot. In the office. ;-) No whiteboard presentations for me. Try pointing to the board while hiding your giant pit stain that's slowly moving towards your boob. Shit, I don't even have to lift my arm for someone to see the stain.

I've tried everything, including certain-dry. Certain-dry worked but: 1) like most anti-perspirants I've tried, it only worked for a few days then it stopped working and 2) it made me stop sweating under my arms and then my sweat re-routed to my CROTCH. (I had an interview, high sweat situation, wore certain-dri. Underarms were dry, but my crotch was drenched with sweat at the end of the interview).

Right now, I'm using Kiehl's antiperspirant. Works well, but after using it for a week straight, starting to not work so well. I think that you have to constantly switch to get it to work. I'm also considering getting a prescription.
