I woke up this morning with all sorts of soreness in my upper body. The ache/pain is sort of where heartburn would be (sometimes it mimics heartburn), and below the ribcage around the diaphragm in the front. It's also in the neck, shoulder and part of my back on that one side.
It hurts to take a deep breath (kind of straight down the middle of my body, sometimes shooting to the neck/back), to move certain ways...and I get pangs of pain that radiate in these areas when I feel pockets of gas moving through my system. I'm pretty sure that some of my muscles in the shoulder/neck/back area feel tender to the touch.
I'm on birth control, so I'm a bit worried about the Pulmonary Embolism risk (the pain when taking a deep breath made me think of it). I know a couple of you have been through that. Does this sound anything like what you experienced? What were your symptoms? I have absolutely no cough of any kind, just upper body pain.
Possibly relevant info: the other day I came down with a stomach virus and was carrying awkward packages that day while feeling weak. I didn't notice much muscle pain that night or the next day...but yesterday was the first time I got up and moved around (including using my little 5lb arm weights). Am I having some kind of delayed reaction to carrying the packages? Pulled muscles? Pinched nerves?
I'd appreciate any input about what this sounds like, and if you think I should be worried. THANKS!
EDIT: I also did a bit of bellydancing yesterday, and upon looking at a diagram of upper body muscles, the pain I feel when I breathe seems to be coming from the diaphragm...that might make some sense!
