Probably depends on your overall health and your BP numbers, but no, hypertension and hormonal BC really don't go together well. Has your doc talked to you about trying an antihypertensive?

if your BP is high, shouldn't you be worrying about getting on something to control it so that it is not high anymore? there are some very cheap and not very hard to tolerate meds out there like beta blockers that can help and will reduce the increased risk you have for stroke, clots, etc. - you should definitely look into this as it is a major health issue.

since hormones also predispose you to clots, that's why you don't want to have hypertension and hormones together. however if you got your BP under control with meds, i bet that you'd be safe for hormones. check with your doctor for details. if your BP is only borderline high, i bet they would still give you hormones.

also, look into the paragard (copper) IUD - it works as well as hormones but does not have hormones in it.

I have high blood pressure and I'm on the pill. My doctors aren't sure what's causing it, but they took me off the pill for quite a few months and it didn't help the bp, so I was "allowed" to stay on it while being monitored.

I'd agree with what someone else had said about looking for and treating the blood pressure. I let it go for quite awhile because I didn't realise how badly it could've been hurting me. I'm on three medications for it now to keep it under control but at least it keeps me at a normal range so I'm not putting myself at risk for heart problems and the like down the line.
