Irregular Periods on BCP

vaginapaginaI am currently looking in to getting an IUD so I can get off hormonal BCP. So, I was looking through my calendar of when my periods began and ended. My cycles have ranged from 21 days to 37 with periods that were two days of spotting to a full week of heavy bleeding. This has been going on for about a year now, and I am just noticing it really. I take my BCP at the same time every day and have never missed a day, and I've been on it for a while now. Why the irregularity, should I be worried?
I just called Public Health (planned parenthood affiliate) to make an appointment for a consultation with a gynecologist for the IUD (PAP Smear and STD tests included). So I will ask there as well, but is there anything specific I should ask to be tested for?
