we used spray whip cream and Hershey's syrup. my only piece of advice is that a little syrup goes a long way! that stuff drips too. and we basically took my comforter and flipped it over (it has dark green on the underside) and keep paper towels and a wash cloth nearby.
it wasn't a huge mess, it was fun and sticky and sweet and delicious :) then you take a fanstic shower together afterwards and you're good as new. give it a shot, you might really like it!
