Pretty vagina related:

I have to make a themed project for an art class where I have to use cut outs and clips from various sources, and my theme was going to be feminism. I was wondering what if anyone has a favorite female and/or feminist artist, so I can collect a wide variety of pieces to use.

"Artist" is non-specific, too. It could be sculptors, painters, photographers, etc.

Thanks!

(Oh, and vagina/vuvla art would be awesome.)

Well, you've probably already thought of her, but just in case: how about Georgia O'Keefe? A lot of her paintings look a lot like vaginas.

I know a lot of people love Betty Dodson. And there was an artist who posted a link to her website (I'm pretty sure it was here on VP), and she had lots of lovely female art. Oh! Here it is: http://www.livejournal.com/community/vaginapagina/3127622.html and here's her gallery: http://www.livejournal.com/users/bandit_art/73440.html

You might also find some good links at vagpag's archives under Art/Attitudes: http://www.vaginapagina.com/archives.php?PHPSESSID=7fae6ce63226bfb65f01845fcf5bb4ae#Art%20and%20Attitudes

Also I was browsing the Museum of Mentruation's site the other day, and ran across this (it's kind of graphic): http://www.mum.org/armenjc.htm

Vanessa Tiegs (http://www.vanessatiegs.com/paintings/) has some beautiful pieces of artwork painted using menstrual blood (and acrylic, i think). you may want to contact her before using her work in case there's copyright issues, but i think her work is really neat and very appropriate for your topic.

you also may want to include quotes from various feminist writers, past and present. there's definitely some different views of what feminism is, and capturing a bit of that conflict and history could be really cool. i'm not sure if audio would be appropriate, but maybe a bit of audio of someone performing the vagina monologues could be a cool touch too (though just the text could work).

You might also want to look into menstrual art.

I haven't got any great referalls for you but a little searching should bring up something.

i know this totally doesn't help you at all, but on Queer as Folk i swear to god the wallpaper in Debbie's house looks like a bunch of vaginas... which always struck me as odd since the place is crawling with gay men.

hmm, maybe they just never noticed.

i can't remember her name, but there was a woman who photographed herself in the 70s, all topless and beautiful, then she got breast cancer years later and documented that. i wish i remembered her name though:/
