I've seen people on here talking about how they have unusually high levels of testosterone, so I figured it stands to reason one can also have naturally higher estrogen levels. Anyone heard of this, and know what kind of effects it has?

Date: 2005-05-27 09:15 pm (UTC)OP-- I have high androgen levels. I also have PCOS. They are supposedly connected. Women with high androgen levels are often overweight, have trouble taking the wieght off, are sometimes hairier and sometimes have skin discoloration. IMO women with high androgen levels tend to have male-pattern fat accumulation(stomach/torso instead of butt/thighs); that's from what I've seen, not sure if it is documented. There are other symptoms I'm forgettting, I'm sure. Women's androgen levels generally don't "shoot up".. you don't have it one day and not the next.

Date: 2005-05-27 11:04 pm (UTC)well, aside from the even weight distrubution. ( i have big big big breasts, no ass and a big set of hips and thighs and tummy...everything else is smaller than the rest...which makes for HAVOC on my poor knees and ankles. Oi.) But, I have less body hair than most, I cry cry cry all the time and an extremely high sex drive as well.
I always wondered if I was special in some way...
Huh.

Date: 2005-05-27 10:18 pm (UTC)I do find that when I was on the pill, I had to have a pill with a moderate estrogen activity and a high androgen activity or else I would be totally emotional and crazy.
