I've been on OTC-Lo for about a month now, and about 3 days after i started my placebos I got horrible cramps and started bleeding, and this was about a week before I was due. So I called up my gyno and told her I had been on anti-biotics when I had started the OTC-Lo (i had bronchitus) and I wanted to know if this was my period or if it was breakthrough bleeding or something odd like that. She said that I should start my PILL PERIOD after this weird period on Sunday May 22nd. Well... its almost Tuesday and there is absolutely NO SIGN OF IT AT ALL. No cramps, no nothing. So I'm guessing my birthcontrol pills arent working properly and I will need a stronger kind... am I correct?

And another thing, lately (ever since I started this pill, i believe) after my period my vagina has been oozing this *very light* bloody discharge (very lightly) for up to 10 days straight after my period.. its not that bad, but it is bad enough that it bothers me and I have to wear a pad or a pantyliner. What could this be? :(

Ugh. And my boyfriend is coming over from Iowa around the end of July, and so far it looks like that i will be on my period when he comes over.. should I ask my gyno about the possibility of skipping a period with birthcontrol? (or cant u do it that early when you are just starting your birthcontrol or something weird like that?)

**** I see the gyno at the end of June for my first pap-smear, if that helps at all..

I'm a little confused -- if you got cramps and started bleeding three days after your placebos, that should have been your period...why do you say that that was before you were due? If I'm reading you right, you got your period right when you should have, and I don't really see a reason why you should get another one. The slight bloody discharge could just be spotting, that happens to a lot of people when they start a pill.

You could ask your gyno about the possibility of skipping, there's nothing wrong with doing it early in your cycle, but I'll warn you that OTC isn't the easiest pill to do that with, a lot of people experience significant breakthrough bleeding when trying to do it with OTC and other triphastic pills. Some people do have luck with it, however.

No, you get it generally anywhere from 2-5 days after starting the placebos. With some women it may take until placebos are done, but that would be pretty rare.

OTC and OTC-Lo are triphasic pills, which means they have a different level of hormones each week (if I'm not mistaken).. which makes skipping a period more difficult than with a monophasic pill such as Yasmin. But check the memories.. I'm sure there's something there. :)
