I was planning on skipping my period this month [I'm on Tri-Sprintec, the generic ortho tri-cyclen] but the insurance won't cover it until 5 days from now. I'm also starting a new job and I know I'm going to be nervous and now on top of that I'll feel miserable sick and be cramped and gross. Anyone have any specific things to help bad cramps? I'm kind of tired of having to take at least 1000mg of Tylenol.

Also, more importantly, I need to get a Divacup but even if I order it now, it won't come in time. Does anyone know anywhere near the Clearwater/Tampa area that sells them? The closest I have found online is in Orlando but that's impractically far for me. I just really don't want to have to use tampons/pads anymore. Agh!

Take 600-800 milligrams of ibuprofen at the first sign of pain, then as needed every 6-8 hours after that. I have very painful periods, and a doctor recommended this to me.

Also, ThermaCare heat patches are wonderful for period pain. I don't know what I did without them.

Ibuprofin is great; it works really well for me. I def. also second the heat patches. Those are lovely. Also try drinking hot (but non-caffinated) liquids and drinking lots of water. Avoid caffiene. Go swimming if you have a chance; the exercise may help some.

I think I've seen those cup things at Walgreens unless that was something different.

i don't know about the divacup, i have never used it. but there is a good product called "instead" that is sold at most drug stores. its a flexible cup-type device that fits over your cervix. if you can't find the divacup in time this may be a good alternative. http://www.softcup.com/softcup_main.php
