I am using Monistat 7 cream for a yeast infection. This is day two. It began late Monday, but I was unable to start the treatment until Tuesday night. When I put it in last night, the pain and itching in the vulva was so bad, I barely slept. Today it was feeling better. I barely scratched it at all. Tonight (I just put it in) the irritation is monumental. I am grinding my teeth and on the verge of tears.
Is this normal? I've used Monistat 7 in the past and I cannot remember it being this bad. Should the post-application itching be this awful?
Thanks guys...

Date: 2002-08-28 07:46 pm (UTC)I used this kind of treatment a few years ago with no problem, but a few months ago when I used it I cried from the pain. My DOCTOR never told me that people who are allergic to sulfa-based drugs (are you?) or other substances can often have an adverse reaction to Monistat and other like treatments. Even when I told my doc this reaction, she had NO idea what caused it. The pharmacist right away told me this was the problem.
Take it out right now, rinse yourself well, soak in a bath if you can, put on some hydrocortisone cream, and ask your doc for a prescription of Diflucan, and tell the doc about this problem!!!
Good luck.
