Hey Ladies!
I'm new to this community so bare with me :p. I was trying to look through the archives but my computer is PMS-ing today, so im sorry if this is a repeated post.

I have a question though. I dont know about any of you, but i shave my areas. My boyfriend likes it that way too. I dont mind doing it, but i get aweful razor burn, no matter what i do, what kind of razor, water temp, different shaving creams, i just cant get rid of it. Does anyone else have trouble with razor burn, and if so, what should i do!!

I do it dry, with a regular Bic razor.

Ages ago (I think on this site, actually!) I read that you should exfoliate, rinse, apply shaving cream, shave, rinse, exfoliate again, rinse, and when you get out of the shower, apply some lotion. That's what I do, anyways, and it works great.

yes that helps a lot for me also. I don't always shave though. I used to use Nair, but it burned like a bitch the first time I went pee afterwards.

I switched to this 3 minute Veet, and I love it.

Tend Skin is great for razor burn and ingrown hairs. You can get it at Sephora, I don't know where else. Other things that I've been recommended are putting deodorant on after shaving (this works great for some of my friends, but hasn't worked for me), and the exfoliating trick. Tend Skin works best for me.

You can find it at Sephora or www.tendskin.com. It's stuff that you put on post shaving.

Tend Skin is a product Sephora carries for $25-$35 depending on the size of the bottle.

Quoting from the bottle: "Tend Skin: The Skin Care Solution. For unsightly razor bumps, ingrown hairs, and razor burn. Reduces the appearance of unsightly razor bumps, ingrown hairs, and redness from shaving, waxing and electrolysis. For men's faces, necks and women's legs, underarms, and bikini lines."

I bought it a few months ago and now I swear by it. I never had a razor burn/redness problem, but occasionally got some irritation after shaving and now it's eliminated when I use this. I shave, dry off, and go over the shaved area with a wet cotton ball.

Works wonders! And totally worth all the money, a 4oz bottle lasts a while.

I haven't tried it, but I've heard great things about this (http://www.2sensualproducts.com/pshavers.html#midastouch). Thinking about getting it myself, though it's a bit pricey.

I've seen these before and I have wanted one, so I had a look on ebay and found a seller who has them for $26.25 with the free trimmer, thought you might like to know too. :)

I use an electric wet/dry bikini shaver. It leaves a tiney bit of stubble, but my boyfriend thinks thats cute so it doenst bother me. I used to shave and got horrible razor burn. I tried everything making sure that i had a sharp razor, shaving cream, no shaving cream, exfoliating, and combinations of all of the above. But i suggest trying the other options first, but if you cant get that to work invest in a nice bikini shaver.

1. Carefully trim your hair with small scissors (if your hair is thick and/ or long)
2. take a shower with warm water to open your pores and soften your hair
3. gently exfoliate your privies with a facial exfoliator (or something equally mild)
4. apply hair conditioner or moisturizing shaving GEL like Skintimate
5. MOST IMPORTANTLY, shave down in the direction of hair growth with a sharp new razor careful to avoid going over the same area twice (going in the opposite direction will lead to getting ingrown hairs and painful bumps)
6. when done shaving, apply a deodorant bar to the area.. i like to use Dove deodorant on that area or the original Secret Baby Fresh formula because they're a bit milder than other deodorants, have moisturizers, and still manage to protect against razor burn.

I used to get the absolute worst razor burn until I followed these steps and now I have no probs. Try it and tell me what you think.

I shave in a hot bath, with an electric shaver (Panasonic I think), with Dove soap. My only problem is sometimes getting ingrown hairs.

Make sure your hair is long enough when you shave, if you shave every one or two days it's going to be too short and the razor will rip up your skin. Wait about four, give the hair a little time to grow out, then you'll get a much closer shave.

Also, use conditioner instead of shaving cream, and a new razor. I shave with the grain, then against, then left to right, always making sure there's enough conditioner on. It works wonders. After the shower, I lotion up really well to keep it moisturized.

Mach 3 razor... used to have razor burns all the time until I purchased one of those (men use it to shave their face so it better be gentle) :-)

make sure the last thing you do in the shower is shave. that way, your pores will be more opened up. i'm sure exfoliation is a good thing to do as well, but i've never done it... i don't have enough time. also, i usually shave once or twice a week because, personally, if i shave everyday it's painful. and of course, use a sharp razor. :)

*new to the community also*

I've kept my areas shaved as well, ever since my firstborn son was delivered via emergency C section, cause any hair around the scar is annoying as hell. I usually shave last thing in the shower, use a Venus razor and lots of lather from my shower lotion. If it is a little raw after the shower I'll put some lotion on it otherwise I'm fine. And the one who said don't shave every other day is right. Tends to lessen razor burn if you don't shave too frequent.
