Ruptured ovarian cyst

I just had my first ruptured ovarian cyst, which was excruciatingly painful. I have a few questions about it though.

1. How long does it usually take to recover from a ruptured cyst? I could barely move when it happened but now (a week later) still feel pretty weak and lethargic.

2. I've been on Lo loestrin for over 3 years and am starting to get worried that it's not working properly to prevent pregnancy. My understanding of the pill is that you shouldn't be ovulating and it sounds like cysts only come from ovulation. Doesn't that mean that the pill isn't working properly?
