For the past few day my inner labia has become red, almost swollen, dry and very itchy and irritable. The inside of me feels normal, it isn't abnormally dry or anything. I don't use any sort of birth control or even condoms because I'm in a long term relationship and we're looking to have children and in the past I've only ever used condoms anyway.

This is going to sound a bit gross but yesterday my clitoris was exceptionally sore and when I checked the hood there was small bits of tissue. I got rid of them in the bath. Is the irritation anything to do with it or is it an unrelated issue? My inner labia is the same today, no changes.

EDIT: Ive been taking amoxocillian (anti-biotic) for an ear infection. Could this be the cause?

Hello HBC aficionados!

I'm taking Loestrin 24 (being discontinued... boooo) and take my pill religiously at the same time every day.  I've been pretty stressed this week so I must have forgotten it, because come Thursday I had a Wednesday pill waiting for me.  I took the Wednesday and the Thursday pill at the same time, so I took my missed pill exactly 24 hours after I forgot it.

The Loestrin 24 documentation says if that I miss one pill, I'm still protected and don't need to use a backup.  I was just hoping you all could give me a second opinion--24 hours seems like a long time to have forgotten it!  Should I use condoms for the next week?  Will I really really be okay if I don't?

Thank you everyone!

(Edited to add that this must be the first time I've forgotten a pill in over a year--so I haven't missed more than this one this cycle!)

Now that I've got the diagnosis...I'm about to start treatment. The doc gave me a Flagyl script and some vag cream. I also have some sketchy internet acquired Diflucan. I had started out taking that, but it didn't help. So I went to the doc, and well, I guess the dual infections explains why only killing the yeast didn't help.

What has worked for you guys? I don't want to deal with the cream for a week if it's not going to help, but I know I need to start treating the yeast once I take Flagyl or else that will get even worse.

Also, how do you maintain vaginal health? Supposedly I'm not immunosupressed, don't have diabetes...but goddammit it's a challenge to have healthy fluids. I'm going to be better about not eating much sugar from now on...switching to baby wipes for my asshole (but not my vag, although those are supposedly vag safe). Also considering a cup + cloth pad switchover for my rag. I wish I could know at least that my vag wouldn't act up if I get stressed out or miss a lot of sleep or eat poorly. I don't get how other people deal.

Edit: And I just got my period. I hope I'll still improve even while using tampons. I don't feel comfortable leaving the house with pads.

Hi all, just a general question I've been pondering;

If you have unprotected sex with someone who has an STI, what are the chances you will contract that STI? Is it 100% for every STI in existence?

I understand that for the purposes of practicing safe sex, in my mind the answer is 'yes', but in reality is that the truth? If I'm in an environment where a lot of people have a cold, I won't definitely catch a cold, but if I kiss someone with a cold, it's much more likely, is that the principle?

Thanks in advance for any answers!
