Hello,

I wasn't sure where else to turn so I wanted to get the opinion of others before I head to the doctor's on the 17th.

I've been having sex with multiple new partners (all with protection), and the last time I had sex with one guy, the condom broke and neither of us knew it until after we were done. a few days later he found out his ex girlfriend said to him that several months ago, while they were occasionally sleeping together, she may have had unprotected sex with another guy who has chlamydia. I've never had an STD scare so it really had me worried.

he immediately got tested (and is waiting on the results), and I booked the soonest appointment I could to do the same, but I'm just wondering if this sounds like chlamydia, or possibly a yeast infection? (I am prone to those).

earlier this week I noticed a small, hard, half pea sized bump on my smaller labia, close to my clitoris. I left it alone for a day or two and it was painful to the touch. I finally was able to look in a mirror at it and I saw that it had a white head. this has happened to me before due to shaving or what not, but never on my smaller labia. I put a hot wash cloth on it and popped it, and it appears to be fine.

I now have was feels and appears to be signs of a YI. dry, itchy, swollen, redness, and whiteish discharge. slightly painful urination.

has anyone else had chlamydia and can give me some insight? I know it's fairly easy to cure but I guess my imagination is running rampant with all the other STDs that it could be.

BV meds

I know we aren't doctors here, but we are pretty savvy about all things vagina. However, if this post oversteps any boundaries about medical advice, let me know and I can correct/delete.

So. I work in the medical field, but in hospice care, and so my knowledge of meds is decent, but not for vaginas. My experience in Gyne was gyne oncology - a different focus.

My friend has BV, and she remembered to take her meds when I was there. I asked what they put her on, and she said "two pills", and proceeded to show me flagyl tablets, and citalopram (celexa) tablets. I thought that was weird, and she mentioned that her doctor called the order in to the pharmacy near her house. The flagyl makes perfect sense, but the celexa...

I advised her to consider calling the pharmacy and make sure she had the right drug. I asked if she was depressed, struggled with PPD or had anxiety, and she said no, and I trust that because she and I are close and I'm sure she'd tell me. Do you think this looks like a medication error? It seems strange that a SSRI was prescribed for BV. Is ciprofloxacin ever prescribed for BV, and perhaps it was misheard on the phone/mistyped in an autocorrect for a computer program?

I told her what citalopram was usually used for and I think she decided not to continue as the side effects are nasty. But maybe there's something I really don't know about citalopram, and it could be useful for her BV. She seemed upset that she was prescribed something for mental health when all she went to the gyne for was IUD insertion, where they swabbed, and it came back for BV.

Thoughts?

***EDIT***

So my friend went to the pharmacy, they looked up the fax, and they screwed up big time. The Citalopram was meant for another person, and she was only meant to receive the flagyl. She only took 3 pills, but scary thing is she's breast feeding an infant, and she never consented to be on these drugs. The manager will apparently call her on Monday, and will refund what she paid for the drugs.

Thanks to everyone for helping solve this puzzle :)

Hi all! Welcome to the latest edition of our Links Round Up.

For folks who don't know, the LRU is a compilation of items from the past week that may be of interest to VPers and is intended to broaden the kinds of conversations we have here.

To submit articles for next week's round-up, e-mail frolicnaked@vaginapagina.com. If you have additional articles you'd like folks to know about this week, feel free to comment directly to this post.

As a reminder, in lieu of trigger warnings, I use keywords describing the themes of the piece. Please skim these before deciding to read the excerpt or click through for the full article. Outside sources are not safe spaces, and mainstream source's comments should almost always be avoided. The links I highlight don't necessarily reflect VP's views, or even my own, for that matter.

This week's round-up includes: doctors, money, and C-sections; fistula; sexual harassment at work and school; the culture of sexual violence; selfies and slut shaming; hormonal birth control, patriarchy, and judging others' choices; on dresses and gender.

Thoughts on any of these stories? Also, what have you been reading (or writing!) this week?

I'm a diabetic with chronic yeast infections that are mostly under control.  My cis male partner has never shown symptoms of a YI, but we've both noticed the strong odor of yeast in his underwear area which comes and goes and I tend to develop YIs quicker if he's smelling yeasty.  Presumably I've infected him and now he keeps reinfecting me as the yeast is definitely hiding out in a large area of skin.  He washes daily with tea tree oil soap and has tried rinses with hydrogen peroxide, which both help but not enough.  He's also tried treating himself with coconut oil and tea tree oil.

I know there's quite a few other options for him (Monistat, etc) but I'm wondering what other people have found to be the most effective.  I'm also curious if oral treatments like Diflucan or even probiotics would help him as external YIs seem to differ a lot from internal YIs. Thoughts?

Hi all

I recently switched from Microgynon to Yasmin due to continued breakthrough bleeding. I stopped the Microgynon in the middle of the pack (23/8), had a withdrawal bleed and started the first active Yasmin pill (from the pack's red section) on the seventh day after the last active Microgynon (30/8).

I had sex every day since 1/9 til 5/9 and each time he finished inside me.

I have had light spotting the past two days and very light cramps today.

Am I likely to be pregnant or is this just my body adjusting to the new pill?

Very worried :(

Yesterday I had sex with my boyfriend , We didn't use a condom and he also didn't ejaculate inside of me. I know that the 'pull out' method isn't safe but he made sure he did. I'm on birth control and I always take them at the same time every single night, so I don't know if I'm just being paranoid ? I really just need your opinions to whether or not you think I'm protected or not.
Thanks very much.

Hello there :)
I am a 21 year old cis-female. I am currently in an LTR and am I'm school for a nursing degree. But lets get to the point. :)
I have a thing for nipple piercings and maybe want a pair.of my own but I have some questions. I will want to have children and breastfeed within the next 5 years. How much of a hassle would it be to take them in and out to fee everytime? Any tips? Recommendations?
I like to swim but next summer I don't necessarily want everyone I swim around to know I have nipple rings? Do swimsuits hide them well enough? Any pasteys?
Any good quality jewelry recommends?
If i decide to do it I have an excellent shop who is aap certified, uses new and sterilized equipment (autoclave) and run a very clean and hygenic buisness and have been In buisness for 30 years.
Tips? Recommendations? Hot fun things to do once they are healed (other than play with them ;)
Thanks in advance you wonderful people.
Love love - Katie

I'm 26 years old, been sexually active since I was 16 (off and on - had quite a few "Dry Spells", and have only been sexually active with 4 guys in the last 10 years), and I am getting my first woman's exam on Monday afternoon. (I know, I should have done it sooner than now, but I either didn't have the time, didn't have the money, or both.) I'm not really nervous or anything. I've read a lot, so I pretty much know what to expect, but is there anything else I should know? Anything I should do in advance to prepare? I'm already planning on shaving my legs, underarms, and touching up "down there" the night before the exam, and taking a really good shower before the appointment to make sure I'm clean and fresh. I've also been keeping track of my periods and the dates I've had sexual intercourse for the last 2 years, so I have that information to give the doc when she asks.

Like I said, I'm not really nervous per-say, but I keep feeling like I'm forgetting something. I just want to be prepared since it's my first visit. Thanks in advance!
