I'm having light spotting (pinkish-then a bit of dark clotted red blood-then brown) in between periods and I'm not quite sure what is going on since this basically never happens to me. (I already have an appointment for something else with my doctor tomorrow and can discuss this with her and I'm thinking of making an appointment with my obgyn for friday) I'm on ortho tricyclon low. My period was supposed to come the weekend of thanksgiving but it didn't happen (which for some reason has been normal. my body will just decide to have PMS but no blood so that wasn't unusual) I'm currently on day 15 on my pack and starting 2 days ago I started to have very light spotting and a mild abdominal pressure (To the envy of most women I don't get cramps really so that's about the closest I can describe what it feels like without really knowing what a cramp feels like) Since my boyfriend is long distance I know exactly when we have sex, which is when I visit. The time line is basically sex Nov 16-17-18, period was supposed to start nov 23 but didn't. Sex again nov 30-dec 1-2. I've taken 3 pregnancy tests, all negative so the closest I can come up with is that this is spotting from ovulation but given I NEVER spot it raised flags of concern. I honestly have no idea what is going on. If I was pregnant from intercourse the tests would be positive, and it's too soon before my next period is supposed to happen for it to be spotting from implantation, so am I correct in thinking it's ovulation spotting and if so because it's not normal for me to do so is it a cause for concern? I also have not had frequent/rough intercourse until recently if that makes any difference. Any advice is greatly appreciated :)

Hey Everyone! Here's my "problem":

I have very thick hair and EXTREMELY sensitive skin. I'm 20 years old & I'm black btw.
I like to shave my underarms and vaginal area. both areas are extremely prone to bumps/hair bumps and I get them all the time; they are also very painful. But it seems like using a razor to my skin causes problems. I've used NEW razors, different brands etc. Maybe my skin doesnt like razors? I'm thinking that I probably pulled out a piece of hair on accident and it didn't heal..how can I avoid this?

I don't like having pubic hair and I like to shave myself bald...should I try waxing for both areas? What should I do that could help me stop getting these bumps or minimize the outbreaks?
How do I treat the bumps? I currently have one on my vagina and I would like to know what should/can I do?

ALL thoughts are welcome, and thanks in advance! :)

Hi VP,

I just woke up in the middle of the night to the period from hell. I'm used to having about half of my periods be pretty painful but this is out of control for me. It's horrible pain accompanied by what feels like an awful lot of blood (not ER worthy though) and dizziness and nausea of an intensity beyond what I'm used to.

Two questions for VP:
(1) pain management help and the reminder about when to go to the er. I know it's probably mentioned in about every other post but I'm really struggling right now and am not up for searching. Best medicines for pain, food to help the wooziness, etc. Have heating pad and am not up for exercise or sex. Already took some NSAIDs but will have to make a pharmacy run for more of something and I'd like it to be the most effective.
(2) it would be very unlikely that I could possibly be pregnant (I use condoms better than typical use but less than perfect) but a mere 6 hrs ago I emailed my boyfriend to tell him that I was going to test this week because I've missed two periods. And now, this. Blood gushing out of me and pain I can't handle. My periods do seem to be worse when I skip some but not this bad. It is very important to me emotionally to know if this is a miscarriage or just a cruel period. If I was pregnant, how long would a pee on a stick test stay positive?

Thank you so much. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Im on combo BC pill, Sprintec to be exact.

I take them back to back and skip the placebo week in order to avoid having my period and I always take them within 2 hours of each other daily.

Im on the last week of this pack.

Last night I had PIV sex with no barrier/back up protection, this morning I forgot to take my pill and took it about 7 hours late.

Should I worry?

I've always had quite irregular periods, generally with a long cycle, and often some spotting in the last 2 weeks of the cycle. Over the last few months, the frequency of the spotting has increased, and my period has become lighter, so I'm now at the point where I'm pretty much bleeding lightly (full panty-liner in 8 hours or so, or soaking through the centre of a small-sized pad) throughout the month. I don't think I'm actually having a real period or ovulating at all - I have no cramps, bloating or PMS the way I used to.

I visited my doctor, who did a physical exam, test for infections (not sexually active so this was a long shot anyway), a smear test and bloods. Everything was normal apart from a raised prolactin level with the blood work. She sent me to get my visual fields checked after that so I figure she's worried it's a pituitary tumour. I went to the optician, my visual fields were perfect. The only other cause of high prolactin that could apply to me is stress as I'm not on any medications or HBC. I've also noticed some increase in unwanted hairs in the chin & neck area which is also a symptom per Dr Google. (Again, this is something that's always been present to some degree.)

I'm meant to go back to have the prolactin levels checked again in the new year to see if they've returned to normal. However, on top of work stress I'm now freaking out about the possibility of having a tumour (even one that's very likely to be benign and treatable). I'm also tired of constantly bleeding - it's too light for tampons and panty liners often can't quite hack it, so I'm wearing pads and it's starting to get irritating without a break :(

Has anyone else ever had this? Is there anything I can do to stop the bleeding before I see the doctor again?

Hello, all.
I've switched to a new livejournal, but still use this one for communities, so please don't look at my lj and assume I'm a troll because there aren't many recent entries. (If you for some reason felt the need to verify I am real, my new lj is lafollefille.) Anyway, I've posted here before, and received some helpful advice, but I run into the same problem nevertheless.

I go to Planned Parenthood, as they take my Medicaid insurance, and they're close by. However, last year, when it was time for my Pap, they refused to give me my birth control unless I got the yearly exam/Pap. I sent a letter protesting this to both the PP Southeastern Pennsylvania headquarters and my local branch. The SE PA office never even responded. Local branch, after a week or two, finally had their clinician call me. She went on a spiel about how it was for my health, especially since I'd had an abnormal Pap before (and a subsequent uncomfortable colposcopy which revealed NO CANCER, and every single Pap since the abnormal one, that is 3-4 years' worth, has been normal), it was to help make sure everything was working right, etc etc..but that they weren't "holding [my] birth control hostage" and I didn't have to get the exam. That's not what the receptionist told me. So I went in, got my blood pressure checked, got asked questions, and was told by whoever I did see that I could put off the exam for now, but I HAD to have it within 6 months. I said "Or what? You will just refuse to give me my pills, and recommend I go elsewhere?" and she said "Yes."

So, now it's December. I was due for my Pap in October. I last picked up my 3 month supply of pills in I guess September? I skip the placebo week, but obviously this week I couldn't. I am supposed to restart my pills Saturday. I'm going to go to PP tomorrow or Wednesday, but I know exactly what I'll be told--I'm due for a Pap and as such can't get my pills. What should I do? Try to argue? Ask to speak to the clinician again? I am extremely, extremely uncomfortable with exams. I am in a monogamous relationship and have been for over 4 years. I'm not a high risk for diseases or cancer. I just want my birth control, since I had irregular periods and it's so nice not to now. What can I say to them to get them to give me my pills? This isn't fair and can't be legal. I do not want to get an exam now, or in 6 months. How can I get them permanently off my back about this?
