Pelvic Floor physical therapy

Hello all!
I'm going for my first consult with a pelvic floor physical therapist on Thursday, and I was wondering if someone can maybe share a similar experience. My problem is with chronic urinary pain accompanied by frequent UTIs. I've seen an amazing urologist who, after ruling out several options, decided that it might be a good idea to try physical therapy to see if my urinary walls just need a bit of relaxing. I'm a little skeptical though...can physical therapy even help frequent UTIs?
Can anyone tell me what kinds of exercises my visit might entail or any other helpful tidbits of what to expect? I'm 24 and rather sexually active with one partner, if that's helpful information at all about my relevant background.
Thanks!
