I figured I'd post the outcome of my previous post in case it helps anyone.

Basically it turned out to be a boil. I've never had one before, and holy mother of pearl the pain. It's insane. At its worst yesterday I was crying and feeling sick to my stomach with pain every time I took a step. I feel like such a wimp... but... yeah, it's the worst pain I've felt in over a decade.

On my mom's advice, I sent my husband out on a search for drawing salve with Ichthammol in it. He went to Walmart and got Smile's Homeopathic Drawing Salve Prid. Looks like crap (literally, same color) and smells like it too, but it worked wonders.

I put it on a band-aid, and said the heck with it and taped it right over my pubic hair. So a few get yoinked out every time I take the band-aid off but... I didn't feel like trying to shave the area without hitting the boil. I left it on all night (I'm nocturnal lately), and went to bed at 6:30am leaving it on.

When I woke up at 3:30pm and hobbled to the bathroom, I took off the band-aid and it was a huge white oozing head. It's like a volcano of disgusting ewww. I've been changing the band-aid and keeping neosporin on it all day, and it's still oozing blood and puss. Now the head is gone, it just looks like an oozing open sore of sorts.

My main problem is just the location, really. It's in my pubic hairs directly above my outer labia. The band-aid kinda folds out in a tent-shape, letting the ooze drip down onto my outer labia - which creeps me out. I tried gauze, but that tents out too. So I've got a criss-cross setup of four band-aids going... two horizontal, two vertical. And that seems to hold the ooze in and soak it up.

I'm kind of wishing I had something more absorbant, every time I take the band-aid off it's soaked. The gauze we have is kind of shiny and smooth, I guess I'm hoping for something more cottony. Might need a trip to CVS to see what other options there are.

Anyway, any tips or advice from here would be great. I really wanna keep this ooze away from my ladybits, and I feel like I could be managing it better than I am.

I feel really silly asking this, because it's such a stupid tiny thing, but...

Last time I saw my doctor we decided that the Mirena IUD would be a good option for me, and she gave me the choice of going to the only gynecologist she recommends, who has a several-month wait time for appointments, or going to Planned Parenthood and actually getting it done this century. I chose the latter option because I'm impatient.

But... I haven't been able to call and make the appointment. I have really, really bad social phobia, and particular issues with phones, and it's all just completely terrifying. And I thought that it might be a bit easier if I knew exactly what I was going to say and had reassurance that it wasn't the wrong thing to say.

So. Do I just call the clinic (I know which one I'll be going to and have their number) and say "I'd like to make an appointment to get the Mirena IUD" or should I say something else or...? Is there other relevant information I should mention?

How do you even pronounce Mirena, for that matter?

EDIT: Thank you so much for the help and reassurance! I worked up the nerve to call earlier and everything went just fine. ♥

Hi Superstars,

I started taking Alesse four days ago, for PCOS. I've been nauseaus almost non-stop since day one, especially for the first five or so hours after taking the pill. Last night I had a fever as well.

This is making me anxious. I have panic disorder and a medical phobia, which are being exacerbated by these side effects. I usually experience side effects when I start new medications, but very mildly; nothing like this.

What would you recommend that I do? I likely can't see my doctor until the end of next week, and going to a clinic isn't an option because I'm broke and will be out of the country. Is it safe to keep taking the pill? Is it safe to stop taking it? Should I wait out the side effects in hope that they'll go away? Should I ask for a different type of birth control when I next see my doctor? What should I do in the meantime?

I'm sorry if my thoughts are incoherent at all. I'm freaking out. And I really appreciate your advice. Thank you.

Hi all! I finally went to the OB GYNE after having been suspected with PCOS and after the ultrasound and the final diagnosis was....NORMAL.

Yes, I don't have PCOS-yet.

Yes, yet. Because my doctor believes that if i don't start regulating my period, I would sooner than later develop pcos.

She prescribed me with Provera.

Given that it is supposed to regulate my hormones, I am expecting that it's effects won't only be on my period alone but in any other part of my body. I asked my doctor and she said so far she have not had any patient reporting negative effects.

My question is, what are your experiences with taking provera? Does it make you fat/ter? Does it make your pimples grow more? Thank you!

I'm writing out of concern caused by several bumps I've discovered around the entrance to my vagina. About a week before my menstruation, I noticed intense itching around the entrance, but only at night. And during the removal of my NuvaRing, I noticed itching inside my vagina upon being touched. I took out my handy mirror and discovered said bumps and felt concerned that they may be genital warts. I really wish I had taken a picture but the best way I can describe them is that they reminded me of old, "bumpy", keloid scars that get irritated from time to time. My last mense, I had a yeast infection the week before so I decided to treat this as a YI while I'm waiting to get a dr. appointment scheduled. A clove of garlic seemed to help and upon further inspection today the bumps seem to have reduced down to what they "normally" were before. For what it's worth, during this time I kept feeling like there was air "hovering" around either my urethra or vaginal entrance. Discharge was a little excessive, but not by too much and not with a distinctive smell.

I've always assumed these bumps were normal for my body, but the "flare up" is disheartening. I've been in a monogamous relationship with my first and only sexual
partner for the past five years, and past paps have been "normal" as well as none of my OBGYNs remarking on anything about the appearance. Is this normal for YI's or could they be warts? Or something else? And if it was a YI, any reasons as to why I would be getting them a week before my cycle?

Thanks so much in advance.
