Hi all,

Normally I start my pack on Fridays, but this Friday I was out of town and forgot to put a new pack in my bag, so I missed the first pill. I took one as soon as I was home the next day (yesterday) at noon. I took my next pill later that evening, but I cannot remember whether it was at 10:30pm as normal or whether it was later. That night I had sex with my boyfriend, and around 2am I threw up from bad fish I had had for dinner. I completely forgot about the consequences it might have on the absorption of pill, and only just took today's (at midnight).

Since I missed my first pill, threw up after my second pill and did not immediately take another one, does anyone know my chances of pregnancy from yesterday's sex? I will use a condom for the next week, but don't know whether I have already put myself at risk.

Thanks for your thoughts. :)

Hi, VP superstars! I need a little help.

I just found out that I'm going on a camping trip in two weeks. Three days in the middle of the woods, no running water, etc. I'm excited about the trip, but I'm scheduled to be on my period that week.

I'm on HBC (Tri-Sprintec -- 3 weeks of active pills, increasing levels of hormones/different colored pills, followed by 1 week of placebos). I want to delay my period this month, if possible, but how successful will I be if I just skip my placebo week and move on to the next row? Or -- I'm on the last day of the first row of pills tomorrow -- should I just get another pack and continue with the lightest blue pills, thus delaying my period a week? Would that even work?

I'm a bit confused on how all of this works, so any help would be appreciated! If I must be on my period during the camping trip, I'll survive, but I'd prefer being period-free in the woods.

Hi vp- I am looking for some advice on this, not sure where to start but here I go:

Prior to taking birth control I had really bad periods that made me feel like I was hit by a bus every month. I had a fever, aches and pains everywhere, light-headedness, heavy bleeding, bad cramps, stomach aches and diarrhea. I am on ortho tri-cyclen lo and is my best pill yet. However, I get withdrawal bleeds in cycles. One month it will be light and almost painless while the next will be horrible.

The past few days I've been dealing with this (and stress...) and have been feeling so sick that I've called out of work for 2 days. I feel guilty for having to call out of work on my period but I can't function otherwise. I've spent a majority of my time laying around, sleeping, and coping with a horrible stomach ache. Friday night I couldnt get to sleep without a pain killer because my abdominal cramps were so bad.

Is this normal for withdrawal bleeding? This is one of the worst ones I have experienced while on the pill. I want to see a doctor and see if something like seasonique would be right for me.

Thanks in advance.

Hey superstars, I've got a situation here, and I'm just wondering if you all had any advice.

{{Edit because people asked; I'm 22 years old, and have been getting my period since I was 11}}

My lady bits and I have always had a decent relationship, even during my period. I even think they're kind of pretty. But lately, we're not getting along AT ALL. In fact, I've come to regard my inner bits as Queen Uterus and The Torture Twins.

The last few months, when I get my period, I get really intense cramps (I think that's what they are?) that are blindingly painful, and I spend the entire first day or so vomiting, and usually the next 2-3 days feeling queasy. I've never had cramps like these, and the vomiting is also a strange effect, for me. I really don't know if this is something I should be really worried about. The cramps are really intense, and unlike the cramps I usually experience, where if I apply pressure or change position, there is relief, there is no pleasing them. The cramps seem to start inside my vaginal canal, and spread/radiate rapidly through my entire pelvis (anal area, lower stomach to a few inches above my bellybutton. They usually last for several minutes, and then calm down to regular dull thuddy period cramps. During these cramps, I am usually so in pain that I'm brought to tears.

Along with this, I've been getting seriously irregular periods, larger blood clots, and irregular bleeding during my period. Example Day 1 of the period I'm currently experiencing: heavy bleeding, heavier than I've ever seen. Day 2: Light bleeding :Day 3: Lots of clotting, thick, dark blood. Day 4: Slept through the night, removed almost clean tampon. used a new one all afternoon, same result. Decide to switch to pad, just to catch the last bits, thinking I'm nearing the end. Queen uterus is not pleased by my complacency, and I bleed profusely again, go through that pad, and 2 super tampons in the next 8 hours.

wtf.

I'm really concerned that there's something wrong with me, and I'm kind of freaking out. I made an appointment with my GYN for the 8th to do a pelvic and an ultrasound, because my insurance doesn't roll over again until the first and I'm out of coverage for the year, but should I be more concerned? Should I dip into my ER benefit? I'm strapped for cash, and haven't paid my ER deductible, and it's the only piece of my benefits I haven't used up. I'm REALLY tired of choosing between my health and money

I apologize for spamming the comm today but I am wondering what sort of professional I should make an appointment with to see if I have and can be treated for PMDD. (general physician? Gyn? Phyciatric?)

I've been struggling with this for a couple years and now I really want to get professional advice. I know I have it and the birth control pills I am on don't seem to help. I'm still manic each month and it's tiresome.

I know this isnt the best place to look for advice on babies and the like but I figured since they CAME from the vagina, its as good a place as any. My partner and I have talked about having a child adnauseum now and we're almost ready to take the plunge of me getting my IUD removed before we start trying, but I was hoping that I might be able to find a place that does a complete breakdown of finances necessary for a baby and the first 2-3 years of their life (from conception on). I get free health care from work for both myself and any offspring, so thats a good thing there. I also plan on cloth diapering and of breast feeding, so provided all goes well that cuts down on the first 6 months costs a bit. Anyway, help?

Hi Everyone,

This is kind of a weird story, but here it is:

I went to a new dermatologist after many previous attempts to cure this acne-like rash that I chronically have on my chest.  I had been doing some research and thought that it might be caused by a type of fungal folliculitis, but he thought that it's just some type of inflammatory reaction.  He agreed to let me try an anti-fungal medication (oral ketoconazole), but then gave me Oracea (basically a low dose of doxycycline antibiotic, but actually apparently really helps with rosacea and inflammatory acne) to begin taking if the oral anti-fungals didn't clear the rash up.

Well, the oral anti-fungal didn't really help, and I took the last pill on Friday night.  Coincidentally, I had my IUD checkup with Planned Parenthood scheduled for Saturday afternoon.  When I was there, I asked them to check me for BV, because I had it a couple of months ago, and I just wanted to make sure that it was completely gone and didn't recur.

The provider came back and said that she hadn't seen any BV, and then she asked me if I had been having any symptoms.  She asked if I was itchy at all, and I responded that yes, I have been slightly itchy over the past few days or so.  She told me that she saw some yeast under the microscope, and that she was going to go ahead and give me a fluconazole pill  Honestly, the intermittent itching made me wonder if I was getting a yeast infection, but I quickly dismissed it, thinking that the ketoconozole would have gotten rid of any fungal issues that I had.

It's just so weird, and it almost made me wonder whether or not my pharmacy gave me the wrong pills.  I looked into it though, and it looks like some strains of candida albicans are resistant to ketoconozole, making fluconazole a better choice for vaginal yeast infections.  Anyway, I took the fluconazole pill almost 48 hours ago, but I still feel a bit itchy.  It's hard to tell though, because it's so intermittent, but it was like that to begin with.

My concern is that I want to start taking the Oracea as instructed by my dermatologist, but I don't want take any antibiotics to feed this yeast infection.  Since it's been 48 hours, can I just go ahead and start my Oracea?  I guess in the worst case scenario, I could use some Monistat if the yeast infection gets worse.

Oh, and I started eating probiotic yogurt today. I hope it helps to keep these infections away - especially since if it works for me, I will be on the Oracea for several months, or maybe even years.

I'm having an issue with wiping after I have bowel movements. I will wipe and wipe and wipe, but most times takes forever to get clean. Then 2 hours or so later, I will go use the restroom again and/or check, and there will be BM there, almost like I never wiped. Anyone have this problem and/or have any advice?

Hello VPers! I actually have a question for my friend, because the directions aren't clear as to what to do in this situation.

She is starting Aviane HBC and it says to start taking it on the first day of her period. However, the whole reason she's going on it is due to irregular periods. She hasn't had her period since November, so who knows when she'll have it next.

When should she start taking it?
ASAP or wait it out?

Thank you!

Hi friends,

I have a trip coming up in 2 months and need to either delay or induce my period before then. I am on Microgestin and stacking seems like the obvious choice, but I'm scared. Last year I experienced a lot of weight gain and severe bloating, and I think it might be related to stacking. For me, "stacking" meant that I would take an extra week of pills from my "backup pack" and then have my placebo week, followed by a full pack of pills. So it would be 4 weeks of active pills before the placebo week, instead of 3 weeks of active pills. The most I ever stacked was a week and I only did it when really necessary.Still, it seems like stacking was when the weight gain and stretch marks really appeared, not to mention the mood swings!

Has anyone else noticed that side effects get worse with stacking?
I've worked very hard to lose my HBC weight and can't afford to gain any back from hormonal overdosing.
The other disadvantage of stacking would be that I'd have PMS during the trip (I'll be with in-laws).

Is there a better option? Maybe I could start the placebo week early. Would I get my period early? I'd obviously have to use condoms for awhile... not sure how that would work exactly.

Thanks!
