Starting HBC - Irregular Period

vaginapaginaHello VPers! I actually have a question for my friend, because the directions aren't clear as to what to do in this situation.
She is starting Aviane HBC and it says to start taking it on the first day of her period. However, the whole reason she's going on it is due to irregular periods. She hasn't had her period since November, so who knows when she'll have it next.
When should she start taking it?
ASAP or wait it out?
